Toronto, ON – PATTISON Outdoor Advertising, Canada’s premier Out-of-Home Advertising Company, has unveiled its 90th Digital Billboard, enhancing its expansive digital network. The new installation is located at Toronto’s bustling entertainment hub, Yonge-Dundas Square, known for its high foot traffic and visibility.

The newly installed billboard, a 10-foot high by 60-foot wide Mitsubishi Digital Spectacular, is designed to captivate with its unmatched color and clarity. Featuring advanced LED technology, the display surrounds the board with vibrant color accents, making it a significant attraction in one of Toronto’s most frequented areas.

Randy Otto, President of PATTISON Outdoor Advertising, expressed his enthusiasm about the new milestone. “This landmark digital display elevates the profile of Yonge-Dundas Square, already a pivotal advertising and entertainment district in our city. The launch of this 90th digital display is a testament to our ongoing commitment to innovating and expanding our digital advertising solutions across Canada,” he stated.

Strategically placed at the north-west corner of Yonge and Edward Street, the Yonge Street Media Beacon spans 736 square feet and features three distinct displays. These can function as one large spectacular or be divided into multiple configurations, offering versatile advertising opportunities.

Mercedes-Benz has taken the lead as the inaugural advertiser on this new digital platform. The automotive giant is showcasing two of its 2012 models, aiming to target a successful, urban audience. “Our challenge was to find unique media opportunities to highlight our latest vehicles, and the Yonge Street Media Beacon provides just that,” said Marc Boderke, Vice President of Marketing at Mercedes-Benz Canada Inc.

Boderke added, “Mercedes-Benz symbolizes innovation, having invented the automobile 125 years ago. The Beacon allows us to showcase the CLS and SLK models not only as pinnacles of style and design but also in a way that captures the attention of onlookers, delivering a message of luxury and sophistication.”

Epicure Digital is revolutionizing the point of sale in restaurants with its digital menu system. “Epicure Digital designs customized digital menu boards that solve our client’s complex menu engineering and point-of-sale marketing issues”, explained Harvey Friedman, Founder and President. “By creatively combining information and nutritional menu labeling with motion graphics and food photography, we produce visually compelling multimedia menus and promotions to help customers make more informed nutritional choices and enhance the dining experience. We call this experience: The Cure for the Menu Bored™”.

The nutritional labels used on the digital menu boards display as nutritional data, nutritional scoring, and icons representing food groups, healthy choices, allergens, vegan, vegetarian, local and organic, whichever and whenever are applicable. Friedman continued, “Using Epicure Digital LiveMenu™ and LiveText™ intuitive user interfaces, operators can easily and quickly change prices and menus, schedule menus and promotions by day part and menu cycle, and display videos, photos and live feeds from the Internet on LCD menu boards and signage. These tools provide more efficiency, revenues and profitability, and help customers waiting in line at a restaurant’s point of sale to make informed choices and achieve a balanced life by eating well.”

Sony Expands BRAVIA Pro Range with New Displays and Digital Signage Player

0

Sony has announced the expansion of its BRAVIA Professional range, unveiling a new lineup of innovative public displays designed for professional use. The BRAVIA Professional series has grown from four to nine models, featuring screen sizes of 60” and 65”. These new models are equipped with an RS232C-HDMI converter box, facilitating remote monitor control, and are tailored for business-to-business (B2B) applications, catering to the corporate, public sector, and small business markets.

In addition to the new displays, Sony has introduced the VSP-BZ10 HD Digital Signage Player, offering a comprehensive solution for digital engagement. This combination of professional displays and digital signage players aims to provide businesses with versatile and high-quality visual communication tools.

Enhanced Image Quality and Energy Efficiency

The BRAVIA Professional displays are renowned for their exceptional image quality, which is dynamically adjusted to suit various environments. They utilize LED backlight technology that modifies brightness based on picture content and an ambient light sensor that adjusts the display brightness automatically. These features not only ensure vibrant and clear images but also contribute to energy savings.

A notable feature of the BRAVIA displays is the built-in intelligent presence sensor, which detects viewer presence and can turn off the screen when no one is in the room. This sensor also reactivates the screen upon the viewer’s return, further enhancing energy efficiency.

The 60” and 65” models boast a monolithic design and an OptiContrast panel that reduces internal reflections, providing maximum picture brightness and sharpness.

Advanced Functionality and Connectivity

The BRAVIA Professional displays offer improved functionality and ease of use. The USB playback feature supports a variety of file formats and content display options, making it ideal for digital signage. Internet connectivity is provided via an RJ45 connector and a built-in Opera-based browser, allowing for seamless online access.

Additional features include free access to Skype-to-Skype voice and video calls and the Media Remote App, which enables smartphone integration for easier control and content search.

VSP-BZ10 HD Digital Signage Player

The VSP-BZ10 HD Digital Signage Player complements the BRAVIA displays by providing a reliable and cost-effective digital signage solution. Consuming only 8W of power, the VSP-BZ10 supports Full HD video and image playback, with capabilities for on-the-fly messaging. It can handle vertical and horizontal scrolling text, convert Flash and PowerPoint files, and distribute content via SD, USB, or network.

Bundled with free software, the VSP-BZ10 includes pre-set control commands for selected BRAVIA models and can manage up to 10 VSP-BZ10 units, making it a scalable solution for various business needs.

Meeting Business Needs

Takayuki Nakane of Sony Professional emphasized the evolving requirements of business users: “The BRAVIA Professional display reflects the changing needs of the business user, incorporating a raft of improvements in terms of functionality. The BRAVIA Professional display not only delivers excellent bespoke images to the target viewer, but also opens up an array of options to the operator, ensuring it can access and display content from a number of sources, in line with user preference.”
