0

Displayce, a leading programmatic demand-side platform (DSP) for digital out-of-home (DOOH) advertising in Europe, has expanded its global footprint by opening an office in São Paulo, Brazil. This marks the company’s first office outside Europe and reflects its ongoing international growth strategy.

To oversee the expansion into Brazil, Displayce has appointed Kauê Magrini as Head of Sales. Magrini brings significant experience from his previous roles at SunsetDDB, PubMatic, AOL/Yahoo, and Taboola, where he developed a strong background in programmatic advertising and digital media strategy. In his new role, he will focus on growing Displayce’s presence in Brazil, working closely with local agencies, publishers, and advertisers to integrate programmatic DOOH into their marketing strategies.

Strategic Expansion in Latin America

The São Paulo office is a key milestone for Displayce as it seeks to strengthen its position in the Latin American market. Brazil’s digital out-of-home advertising sector is growing rapidly, with more than 21,000 DOOH screens already available programmatically across the country. Displayce’s expansion into Brazil is aligned with the company’s goal of becoming a global leader in the programmatic DOOH market.

Displayce’s CEO, Laure Malergue, commented on the expansion: “Opening our first office outside Europe is a significant step in our international growth. We are committed to delivering advanced programmatic DOOH solutions to our clients worldwide, and establishing a presence in Brazil allows us to offer localized support. We are pleased to have Kauê Magrini leading our efforts in this important market.”

Growth Potential in Brazil’s DOOH Market

Brazil’s DOOH market is expected to see continued growth, with studies indicating that out-of-home media attracts the attention of 89% of the population, according to Kantar. Displayce’s platform provides advertisers with access to a wide inventory of digital billboards and offers advanced features such as real-time panel purchasing, cookie-less targeting, and comprehensive campaign impact measurement.

Kauê Magrini expressed his enthusiasm about the opportunity: “I am excited to join Displayce and help drive its growth in Brazil. The programmatic DOOH market here is expanding, and I look forward to working with local partners to promote the use of our platform.”

Displayce’s entry into the Brazilian market is expected to increase competition and drive innovation in programmatic outdoor media. The company’s advanced technology and localized support could provide new opportunities for advertisers and agencies looking to leverage DOOH in their campaigns.

Freeosk and Place Exchange Partner to Introduce Programmatic In-Store Retail Media

0

Freeosk, a company specializing in experiential retail media, has announced a partnership with Place Exchange, a leading supply-side platform (SSP) for programmatic out-of-home (OOH) media. This collaboration aims to offer advertisers access to in-store, experiential retail media inventory through programmatic platforms for the first time, providing a new avenue for engaging shoppers directly at the point of purchase.

The integration allows advertisers to activate campaigns on Freeosk’s discovery kiosks via the same demand-side platforms (DSPs) they already use for other digital media buys. This makes it easier for marketers to incorporate in-store media into their broader advertising strategies. According to Ari Buchalter, CEO of Place Exchange, the partnership comes at a time when there is growing demand for in-store retail media that drives both brand awareness and customer engagement.

Freeosk’s kiosks are positioned in high-traffic areas within retail stores, offering brands the opportunity to connect with shoppers during their shopping journey. The kiosks display dynamic media that aims to influence purchasing decisions in real-time. Historical data suggests that Freeosk campaigns have been successful in attracting new customers, with a significant percentage of those shoppers making repeat purchases.

Benefits for Retailers and Advertisers

For retailers, the partnership with Place Exchange requires no additional investment, making Freeosk’s inventory an attractive option for Retail Media Networks (RMNs). The integration into programmatic platforms also enables national brands to easily access in-store media opportunities, potentially driving more advertising revenue into physical retail environments.

The U.S. Department of Commerce reports that over 84% of total U.S. retail sales occur in physical stores, highlighting the continued importance of in-store shopping. The partnership between Freeosk and Place Exchange aims to capitalize on this by merging the reach of programmatic advertising with the effectiveness of in-store media.

Adele’s Munich Concerts: A Record-Breaking 220-Meter LED Wall

0

In today’s entertainment landscape, the integration of advanced technology is crucial in creating immersive experiences for audiences. This was demonstrated during Adele’s Munich concert series, where a state-of-the-art LED wall played a crucial role in transforming the event into a visually and aurally impressive production. The innovative use of this technology highlighted the evolving nature of live performances and set new expectations for concert-goers.

Central to the Adele Arena—a custom-built, temporary venue for her 10-show residency in August 2024—was an impressive LED wall provided by Solotech, featuring ROE panels. This massive screen, measuring 220 meters wide and 20 meters tall, was designed to be the largest outdoor LED wall ever constructed. Its expansive size, exceeding the length of two football fields and reaching the height of a six-story building, was the largest ever used in a concert. It significantly enhanced the audience’s experience, providing high-definition visuals to the 75,000 attendees at each show.

This LED wall was not merely a backdrop; it served as a dynamic element that enriched Adele’s performances. During “Rumor Has It,” for example, the screen featured vibrant, tabloid-inspired graphics that added depth to the song’s narrative. In “Skyfall,” the visuals created a cinematic atmosphere with virtual smoke and fire effects. The clarity and scale of the screen ensured that even distant viewers felt fully immersed in the performance, demonstrating the powerful impact of technology in live events.

Constructing the Adele Arena was an impressive feat, completed by a team of 700 workers in just 30 days. The venue included a large 4,000-square-meter stage and a 100-meter catwalk, which were designed to enhance the viewing experience alongside the giant LED wall. This setup provided every attendee with an unobstructed view of the performances and visual effects.

Adele’s Munich concert series was organized by Live Nation in partnership with local authorities in Munich. The project, which cost $130 million, was planned with sustainability in mind. The temporary Adele Arena was designed to be dismantled after the residency, with most materials set to be repurposed. This environmentally conscious approach added a unique dimension to the event, making it a one-time experience for the audience.

Adele’s Munich concerts showcased how the latest technology can elevate live performances. The record-breaking LED wall not only provided stunning visuals but also demonstrated the potential for digital displays to enhance the concert experience. As technology continues to advance, the standards for live events are likely to rise, with Adele’s Munich residency exemplifying this trend.

LG’s New Anti-Discoloration Technology for Outdoor Digital Signage Achieves UL Verification

LG Electronics has announced the launch of its new Anti-Discoloration™ technology, designed to enhance the durability and longevity of outdoor digital signage. This innovation has been verified by UL Solutions, making LG the first company to receive this recognition for preventing screen-yellowing in outdoor displays. The UL verification confirms the effectiveness of LG’s technology in maintaining display quality and stability, particularly under prolonged exposure to sunlight.

Screen-yellowing is a common issue for outdoor digital signage, leading to diminished visual quality and shorter product lifespans. LG’s Anti-Discoloration technology addresses this problem by incorporating advanced materials and thermal solutions, which help preserve the original color and clarity of the screens. This development is particularly significant in the absence of internationally recognized standards for testing a display’s resistance to discoloration.

The demand for outdoor digital displays is increasing across various sectors, including restaurants, public transportation hubs, educational institutions, and sports venues. These displays are often subject to harsh environmental conditions, making durability a key consideration for businesses. LG’s new technology aims to reduce maintenance costs and extend the service life of these displays, providing a more reliable solution for business-to-business (B2B) customers.

The UL Verified products featuring Anti-Discoloration technology are already included in LG’s latest high-brightness outdoor signage models. LG plans to expand the use of this technology across a wider range of digital signage solutions, ensuring consistent performance in diverse outdoor settings.

“Our goal with the Anti-Discoloration technology is to offer a more durable and reliable product for our customers,” said Paik Ki-mun, senior vice president and head of the Information Display business unit at LG Business Solutions Company. “We will continue to focus on research and development to enhance the quality and performance of our digital signage solutions.”

Screenly First Digital Signage Firm to Join CISA’s Secure by Design Initiative

0

Screenly has announced its participation in the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure by Design initiative, becoming the first digital signage company to do so. This initiative encourages the incorporation of cybersecurity features during the development of digital products, rather than adding them as afterthoughts. The goal is to mitigate vulnerabilities from the outset, enhancing the security of digital systems.

Introduction to “Secure by Design”

The “Secure by Design” initiative, led by CISA, underscores the importance of incorporating security features during the initial design and development stages. This approach is increasingly crucial in today’s digital landscape, where cyber threats are both sophisticated and prevalent. The initiative also involves collaboration with international cybersecurity agencies from countries including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, the Czech Republic, Germany, Israel, Japan, South Korea, the Netherlands, Norway, the United Kingdom, and others.

Key Commitments by Screenly

Screenly’s involvement in the “Secure by Design” initiative encompasses several key practices designed to bolster the security of their digital signage solutions:

  • Elimination of Default Passwords: To minimize the risk of unauthorized access, Screenly has removed default passwords from their devices. This critical measure addresses a common vulnerability in digital systems, providing a stronger security foundation.
  • User Education and Field Testing: Screenly is dedicated to educating customers on the security features of their products. By conducting field tests, they assess how users interact with these features in real-world scenarios and provide guidance on best practices, helping users safeguard their systems.
  • Streamlined Hardening Guides: The company offers simplified hardening guides, making it easier for users to implement necessary security measures. These guides provide clear, actionable steps to enhance overall system security.
  • Management of Legacy Features and End-of-Life Notifications: Screenly actively manages the lifecycle of their products, offering clear notifications and support for devices nearing the end of their operational life. This prevents the continued use of potentially vulnerable outdated technology.
  • Attention-Grabbing Security Alerts: Screenly employs in-app notifications and user interface enhancements to promote secure practices, such as enabling multi-factor authentication (MFA) and Single Sign-On (SSO).

Screenly follows a strict Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), which includes practices such as code reviews, signed commits, and the use of automated CI/CD pipelines. The company places a strong emphasis on vulnerability management, leveraging tools like Dependabot and SonarCloud. Additionally, Screenly is adopting Software Bill of Materials (SBOMs) to improve transparency and security within their software supply chain.

Screenly is adopting a Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA), ensuring that all system access is strictly verified and authenticated. This includes secure communication protocols for devices and mandatory MFA for internal systems.

Furthermore, Screenly prioritizes customer support and transparency by providing security-related logs at no additional charge and ensuring that their devices receive automatic over-the-air updates. This eliminates the need for manual updates, helping to maintain a secure and up-to-date operating environment.

Screenly’s involvement in the “Secure by Design” initiative introduces a new benchmark in the digital signage industry, underlining the importance of cybersecurity. As digital signage systems become more integrated into business operations, ensuring their security becomes increasingly important. Screenly’s proactive steps aim to enhance the security of its products and encourage other companies to consider cybersecurity in their product development processes.
