The network incorporates five digital displays, featuring the latest light emitting diode (LED) technology designed and manufactured by Daktronics. Four of the digital boards are located on the Cardinal Route of Beirut City, from Sofil Center to Murr Tower, the last one being at the Port, main north entrance of Beirut. All displays are accompanied by a time and temperature display, also manufactured by Daktronics.
“With the installation of five state-of-the-art Daktronics 10 mm SMD LED screens in the heart of Beirut, we bring outdoor advertising to a new level of ultimate technology, offering the best resolution available to our clients while contributing to add a modern face to our cosmopolitan city,” said Antonio Vincenti, CEO, Les AffichagesPikasso s.a.l.
Each display measures approximately 3 meters (9 feet 10 inches) high by 3.9 meters (12 feet 9 inches) wide with pixels on 10 millimeter spacing.
In compliance with digital billboard regulations aimed at safe driving practices, each screen displays a loop of six still images, displayed for eight seconds each.
“We were pleased to partner with Daktronics in our first LED project,” said Kristina Araman, Development Manager, Les Affichages Pikasso s.a.l. “We received full support during the installation process and immediate assistance when needed.”
The display network’s content is managed by Daktronics Visiconn® software. It is a control system that allows users to run their displays from any internet-ready computer. With the ability to integrate multiple display technologies (LED, LCD and others), the Visiconn® control system is the ideal solution for controlling digital display networks. The technology offers the capability to quickly create and display messages and graphics on the LED displays, allowing advertisers to better target their content to the audience at a particular location or certain time of day.
