Daktronics Inc. of Brookings, S.D., has been chosen to design, manufacture and install an integrated scoring, video and advertising system for the multi-purpose DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven, Miss.
Inside the arena, patrons will be greeted by several new additions, including two end wall video displays. One display will measure approximately 19 feet high by 32 feet wide featuring lines of LED pixels on 15 millimeter spacing. The second end wall display will measure approximately 8 feet high by 23 feet wide and feature a 20 millimeter pixel layout. The displays are integrated and able to show the same images but can also operate independently, showing single large images, with the capability of being divided into separate windows to show an array of vivid graphics, statistics, colorful animation and live and recorded video with incredible brightness and wide-angle visibility.
“We’re excited about working with Daktronics to significantly upgrade all of the DeSoto Civic Center’s signage capabilities,” Todd Mastry, Assistant General Manager of the DCC, said. “This cutting edge technology will allow us to highlight the spectacular plays of the Mississippi RiverKings on the ice and greatly enhance the fan experience. With the infusion of more color and energy into the building, the Desoto Civic Center will continue to be the premier facility in the state of Mississippi.”
The center’s transformation will also include a single fascia display circling the inside of the arena and measuring approximately 2 feet high by 786 feet long. This digital ribbon board will work in coordination with the end wall displays to excite and entertain fans.
Two outdoor displays will replace the previous displays outside the center and will be easier to read. One of the displays has both video and text capabilities and measures approximately 12 feet high by 19 feet wide. The second display measures approximately 3 feet high by 10 feet wide.
The Daktronics displays are ideal for promotion of the DeSoto Civic Center and its event occupants. More information will be provided for the fans. Viewers that are farther away from the main event will be enticed by the video-provided close-ups. The outdoor displays will be a huge advertising tool for the team and the center. All together, the Daktronics display system will make the center more spectacular.
The installation also includes six locker room clocks/timers, six two-sided game/shot clocks, three goal light sets and a delay of game timer.
“Working with the DeSoto County Civic Center was a great experience,” Andrew Rice, Daktronics Sales Representative, said. “The equipment going in at DCC is state-of-the-art and will definitely set them apart from most of the facilities in the region.”
Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with minimal maintenance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
