New OLED TV Underscores LG’s Status as Technology and Design Frontrunner

0

LAS VEGAS — LG Electronics (LG) has solidified its leading position in the OLED TV market with the unveiling of the revolutionary EA9800 curved model at the 2013 International CES. The EA9800, boasting LG’s proprietary WRGB technology, offers a strikingly thin display with a dramatic curved design and lifelike picture quality that closely mimics natural colors.

The EA9800 is the industry’s first OLED TV to feature a curved ergonomic design and full CINEMA 3D support. This inwardly curved screen ensures that the entire display is equidistant from the viewer’s eyes, effectively eliminating screen-edge visual distortion and detail loss. LG has not yet announced the availability and pricing of this innovative model.

“LG is the first to launch the 55-inch OLED TV,” stated Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG’s Home Entertainment Company. “We believe our new OLED TVs offer the ultimate viewing experience, surpassing anything seen before. The new curved model complements our core OLED TV family with a unique design that capitalizes on the thinness of the screen and the aesthetic beauty of OLED TV.”

Superior WRGB Technology and Infinite Contrast Ratio

LG’s OLED TVs are renowned for their vivid and realistic pictures, a feat achieved through the superior WRGB technology. This unique Four-Color Pixel system includes a white sub-pixel that works alongside the traditional RGB setup to deliver perfect color output. The built-in Color Refiner further enhances tones, resulting in vibrant and natural images. The 55-inch OLED TV also offers an infinite contrast ratio, maintaining optimal contrast levels regardless of ambient light or viewing angle. The High Dynamic Range (HDR) algorithm enhances the infinite contrast ratio and ensures maximum color separation and rich color expression.

Ultra-Slim Design and Ergonomic Curvature

Without the need for a separate backlight, OLED technology allows LG to create TVs with significantly reduced weight and depth, resulting in a sleek, minimalistic appearance. The EA9800’s ultra-modern design and curved screen eliminate any visual distractions, maximizing the viewing experience. The use of Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) further reduces the unit’s weight while adding strength to the curved screen. The OLED TV’s slim profile and narrow bezel contribute to an immersive viewing experience, whether in 2D or 3D. Additionally, the new model comes with an easy-to-mount wall bracket, allowing for a simple, one-person installation and a display gap of less than an inch from the wall.

Innovative Features and Smart TV Capabilities

The EA9800 incorporates LG’s Paper Slim design, seamlessly integrating the screen and stand into a unified aesthetic entity. CINEMA SCREEN Design elements result in a nearly invisible bezel, enhancing the immersive experience. The Smart Touch Control feature, located below the screen, provides an intuitive way to manage basic functions such as changing channels, adjusting volume, and powering the TV on or off.

LG’s OLED TVs combine industry-leading CINEMA 3D technology with Smart TV capabilities, offering an unparalleled home entertainment experience.
