Multiple Senders in One Rack-Mount Unit Deliver HDMI up to 200 Feet at 1080p Full HD with Support for 3DTV using CAT-6 Cable

0

Connectivity solutions provider Gefen today announced the availability of two new companion products for matrix switching systems using HDMI. Both CAT-6 cable-based extenders support 3DTV for an instant delivery of 1080p full HD and multi-channel audio.

4X CAT-6 Extender for HDMI

This single rack-mounted extender can be combined with any Gefen 4×4 matrix product. It extends all four connected outputs over CAT-6 cable up to 200 feet (60m) to the remote HDTV displays, streamlining any installation that requires HDTV displays in different locations. One CAT-6 cable placed between the sender and receiver unit(s) delivers 1080p full HD with 3DTV, multi-channel audio, Gefen’s FST (Fast Switching Technology), IR remote, RS-232 and IP control. The sender includes four sender units in a one rack-mount solution that can fit next to any mounted 4×4 matrix system. Four individual receiver units connect the displays to the sender.

8X CAT-6 Extender for HDMI

This companion extender for Gefen 8×8 matrix products allows all eight connected outputs to be extended up to 200 feet (60 m) from the sources using one CAT-6 cable per display. One CAT-6 cable transmits 1080p full HD video with 3DTV, multi-channel audio, FST (Fast Switching Technology), IR remote, RS-232 and IP control signals from the selected source (connected to the matrix) to the remote destination (display). The sender includes eight sender units in a one rack-mount solution for convenient access to the matrix system. Eight individual receiver units connect the displays to the sender.

“I am using the 8X CAT-6 Extender for HDMI in my own home along with an 8×8 Matrix, and my installer was thrilled with its simplicity, convenience and reliability,” said Hagai Gefen, president and CEO, Gefen. “Because it’s designed specifically for any matrix switching system, it is a plug and play operation that also streamlines display extension using economic CAT-6 cable that can be easily installed.”

Both the 4X and 8X CAT-6 Extenders for HDMI can be used as companions to the 4×4 or 8×8 Matrixes from Gefen, and can also be used as stand-alone extender for any number of HDTV displays. By offering a long-range signal delivery over cost-effective CAT-6 cable, they are ideal for any venue seeking to simplify their installation.

New widescreen LED display wall cubes from Mitsubishi launched at ISE 2011

Mitsubishi Electric will launch three new LED-lit widescreen DLP™ display wall cubes at Integrated Systems Europe 2011. Available in 16:10 (WUXGA) and 16:9 (Full HD) formats, the latest additions to the company’s flagship Seventy Series display wall range feature energyefficient LED light sources, a unique heat pipe cooling system and extreme long-life fans. With expected lifetimes of 80,000 hours for the light source and over 100,000 hours for fan packs, the new Mitsubishi LED display wall cubes offer the ultimate in low total cost of ownership.

The new 72” and 62” WUXGA, and 70” Full HD Seventy Series LED cubes offer a choice of screen materials and are available in front or rear access versions. Mitsubishi’s LED display wall system offers significant operational and environmental benefits as well as economic ones. 3 power settings – ‘Bright’, ‘Normal’ or ‘Eco’ – allow users to select the most efficient operating mode. At 220W, ‘Normal’ mode power consumption is the lowest of any LED cube. Operating in ‘Eco’ mode reduces this still further, to just 180W.

The wider gamut of Mitsubishi’s LED light source delivers richer colours and a more uniform screen brightness compared to conventionally-lit cubes.

Along with its exceptional lifetime, removing the need for consumables such as mercury lamps and colour wheels means less waste and less environmental impact. Mitsubishi’s LED display wall cube offers superb colour stability over its expected lifetime of more than 9 years of continuous operation.

Mitsubishi Electric’s Seventy Series is arguably the most comprehensive display system available from any manufacturer; a range of professional displays that include both DLP™ cubes and super narrow bezel LCD panels, each sharing a common architecture and design concept. Like the other displays in the Seventy Series range, the new 16:10 and 16:9 LED display wall cubes come with a range of optional input boards that allow the user to easily configure the system to their precise requirements. Options include built-in image processing that allows sophisticated multi-input display walls to be created without the need for an external processor. The input options include DVI, VGA, composite and component video, SDI and HDSDI. A total of six source windows can be shown on each display cube. Sources may be supplied to all cubes via an optional daisy chain card, allowing larger windows to be displayed over the entire wall or arranged in individual windows as required. For more complicated applications, Seventy Series displays can be used with Mitsubishi’s VC-X3000 processor and D-Wall software suite to create an extremely powerful turnkey display system. The D-Wall client is now available for both Windows and iOS platforms –

Other innovative display products on show at ISE 2011 will include Mitsubishi’s Diamond Vision OLED – the world’s only scalable large-screen OLED display system – and a new range of professional LCD touch panel interfaces. For more information, visit http://displays.mitsubishielectric.eu

Scala Wins Big Honors at 2010 DIGI Awards

0

Scala, the leading provider of end-to-end software solutions for digital signage and advertising management, has been recognized for its involvement in two innovative digital signage deployments at the 2010 DIGI Awards. Scala won “Best Deployment, Integration of Digital Signage and Mobile/Cell Phone Technology” for 4Food: Build your Burger within a Social Network. Scala was also named the winner of “Interactive Technology Roll-Out of the Year” for Texas State Technical College’s digital signage degree program and installation.

Before stopping into the midtown Manhattan store, 4Food customers can log on to the website (www.4food.com) and build their burgers in advance via computers or 4Food’s smart phone application. If customers need to place an order upon entering the store, employees take orders on iPads, which upload instantly to the kitchen. A giant 13-foot by 20-foot LED wall displays TV programming, 4Food’s Twitter feed, 4Square updates and the customer names as orders are ready for pick-up. Scala software integrates with the restaurant’s point of sale system and real-time inventory. The network also integrates with 4Food’s online community, where creating an account is encouraged and members can earn points for food.

Texas State Technical College (TSTC) is the first school to offer a degree program in digital signage technology. Students enrolled in the program earn a two-year associate’s degree and receive their training entirely online in a virtual classroom. Students use Scala software to create content, manage playlists, identify audiences, and measure and track digital marketing results. They develop and run mock campaigns on the campus network and manage transmissions of multimedia content to more than 50 displays on the four TSTC campuses.

“We greatly appreciate the recent awards that acknowledge the cutting-edge social media and interactive applications our partners and customers have created using our software,” said Tom Nix, Vice President of Scala, Americas and Oceania. “We look forward to sharing how our customers leverage adjacent technologies to get exponential value out of their Scala digital signage solution.”

FARMATODO pharmacy network has chosen to implement a digital signage solution called FARMATODO TV

FARMATODO pharmacy network has chosen to implement a digital signage solution called FARMATODO TV, with the aim of providing its customers an audiovisual communication channel that complements the shopping experience at its stores.

FarmaTodo TV 2The launch of this network of screens, also known as Digital Signage network, began with a pilot project located in the shops of El Hatillo and La Tahona in the city of Caracas, consequently, will enable managers to improve the channel and its contents, according to the results obtained during the pilot project. Additionally, the DS channel will have a cutting-edge audience measurement system, which provide information relevant to the impact of the screens on customers and will be used by advertisers to measure the effectiveness of their advertisements on the channel.

The main objective is to increase the relationship between consumers and FARMATODO stores by delivering news and entertainment programming. In the background, pharmacists can educate customers with useful and relevant products, while advertisers can connect with consumers at the place where the sale occurred, when they visit the store.

FARMATODO choose IMVINET, a Digital Signage company in Venezuela, to develop the project, which will be implemented in the near future to FARMATODO’s 135 stores nationwide.

This project represents the efforts of two companies working together to establish objectives, requirements and parameters necessary for success. On one hand, IMVINET has proposed to develop the channel and its content in a fully dynamic, intelligent and interactive way, allowing FARMATODO to control the channel centrally and in real time. On the other hand, FARMATODO relationships with various health care providers will greatly benefit the channel and allow the integration of media and agencies, seeking to take advantage of a direct channel to potential consumers.
