New Digital Signage Network Improves Communications and Cuts Costs for Popular Resort Town in England’s Southern Coast

A major goal of Bournemouth’s Borough Council is making locals and visitors aware of the region’s many activities and events. This task brought with it an internal communications challenge. The Council had struggled to efficiently coordinate communications and disseminate news to its staff. Direction Marketing & Communications and Scala offered a solution to solve this — a centrally managed digital signage network that informs the council’s staff, based in various locations within the city, simultaneously and instantly if needed. This is the first system of its kind in the region.

Dunkin’ Donuts Center Installs New Daktronics Marquee

Daktronics Inc. of Brookings, S.D., recently designed, manufactured and installed a new light emitting diode (LED) marquee display for the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, R.I.

“This new marquee will allow us to reach fans and passers-by 365 days of the year,” said Lawrence Lepore, SMG’s General Manager. “We’ve worked with Daktronics in the past, and we are happy to do so again. It’s a great way to keep our community informed and to provide additional visibility for our events.”

The two-sided marquee display, with each side measuring approximately nine feet high by 16 feet wide, incorporates excellent clarity and contrast for video images, multiple levels of protection

from the elements and a more robust cabinet design with an improved ventilation system. With pixels spaced at 15mm, both vehicle traffic and pedestrians will have clear visibility of the signage. It has the ability to show attractive animations and graphics and promote all upcoming events.

The Dunkin’ Donuts Center, home of the AHL Providence Bruins and the Big East Providence College Friars, installed a Daktronics centerhung display in 2007 that includes 12 LED video and ribbon displays.

“We have a valued, long-term partnership with the Dunkin’ Donuts Center,” said Daktronics Regional Sales Manager Ross Yanco, “and we are very pleased to be working with them again on this project. The new marquee will only add to the Center’s impressive array of video technology.”
