European electric vehicle (EV) charging company ChargeEuropa has announced a strategic partnership with Movem, the sustainable mobility arm of Meralco, the Philippines’ largest energy provider. This collaboration will introduce ChargeEuropa’s advertising-supported EV charging model to the Philippines, marking its first venture into the Asian market.
The partnership aims to accelerate the development of EV infrastructure by deploying advertising-enabled charging stations in key locations. This approach not only addresses the need for accessible EV charging but also leverages digital advertising to create a sustainable revenue stream.
A Sustainable Model for Emerging EV Markets
ChargeEuropa’s model combines EV charging with Digital Out-of-Home (DOOH) advertising, allowing the company to roll out infrastructure in a cost-effective way. By generating revenue through advertising, the initiative reduces reliance on government funding and minimizes costs for users.
“The Philippines is an ideal market for our solution, given its growing urban centers and increasing focus on sustainable energy,” said Matt Tymowski, CEO of ChargeEuropa. “Our partnership with Movem enables us to support the country’s EV adoption journey while delivering value to advertisers.”
With this dual-purpose model, businesses gain access to prime advertising real estate, while EV users benefit from reliable charging infrastructure in urban hubs and high-traffic areas.
Supporting the Philippines’ EV Transition
The Philippines, like many countries in Asia, is at the early stages of EV adoption. Addressing the challenge of building and sustaining infrastructure is crucial for the transition to cleaner transportation.
Movem’s President and CEO, Raymond Ravelo, emphasized the importance of the partnership:
“ChargeEuropa’s innovative approach complements our mission to make EVs more accessible to Filipinos. This collaboration is a step toward a greener future, providing EV solutions that are both efficient and financially sustainable.”
Movem, formerly eSakay, is recognized for its efforts to promote electric mobility, offering end-to-end EV solutions tailored to local needs.
As the demand for EV charging solutions grows in Asia, this partnership sets a precedent for other markets looking to adopt sustainable infrastructure models.
