New Large Format Digital Signage to be Installed in South Station-Boston

Available to advertisers beginning January 2013, these new digital screens, each measuring 17.7’Wx10’H, will provide further opportunity for brands to be seen and heard by the station’s over 4 million monthly visitors. The hanging displays located on either side of the station will offer crystal clear video and high definition audio capabilities using focused directional speakers.

Currently, South Station is home to one of the country’s largest station dominations boasting over 70 static advertising faces and experiential marketing opportunities. Past advertisers include Apple, JetBlue, Merrill Lynch, Samsung, Stella Artois, Maker’s Mark, Pepsi, Tropicana, and Mohegan Sun among many other high profile companies. A digital option at South Station creates additional advertising opportunities for national and local companies, allowing for versatility in creative executions and offering brands the capability to display multiple ads. The digital screens will complement the massive station domination and allow additional advertisers to reach South Station’s millions of monthly visitors. “The screens add a new dimension to the best media asset in Boston and the most prolific station domination in the country” stated Evan Seigerman, the CEO at Blue Outdoor. “We are fortunate to have Equity Office as our long term partner in South Station, who shares our vision to create an immersive, memorable experience at the station.”

The new screens will be manufactured and installed by Daktronics, the largest digital sign company in the world, known for their contrast and brightness standards and for creating high profile displays throughout the country, such as the Budweiser and Coca-Cola signs in Times Square and the multiple displays at the Amway Center in Orlando. Utilizing a 6mm pitch between pixels, these Daktronics screens promise to provide South Station advertisers the highest display quality in the industry.

Blue Outdoor, a New York Based outdoor advertising company, boasts over 7000 advertising faces located in 26 states. Their portfolio is comprised of digital and static signage, including 51 retail locations, the largest station domination in the US, 190 wrapped vehicles, and a network of over 100 digital screens.

South Station is located in the heart of Boston’s major business district and serves as the major downtown commuter rail station. It is a hub for the MBTA, Boston’s primary public transportation system, and a main stop for Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor Service.
