Daktronics Inc, in conjunction with the University of South Carolina, is pleased to announce the upcoming addition of a high-definition LED (light emitting diode) video upgrade to Williams-Brice Stadium. Scheduled to be complete prior to the 2012 college football season, the new HD video display will be nine times larger than the current video display it will replace.
“Our new videoboard is something that Gamecock Nation has wanted for some time,” said Eric Hyman. “We have spent millions of dollars throughout our athletics venues to enhance our presentation in an effort to recruit the best and the brightest student-athletes, but this one is geared toward the fans. The in-stadium experience at Williams-Brice Stadium is going to be fantastic with the addition of the new videoboard. Through a stringent competitive bid process Daktronics was chosen as a partner to enhance the game-day experience.”
Measuring approximately 36 feet high by 123 feet wide, the new HD video display will utilize the latest in LED technology offering superb clarity and contrast of video images, providing excellent viewing angles throughout the stadium. The display will be able to operate independently by showing single large images or be divided into multiple zones (windows) to show a wide variety of statistics, information, graphics, animation and live and recorded video. The display can also be used in a variety of ways to recognize and activate sponsors.
Located below the video display, will be a custom LED scoreboard showing game in-progress information.
The new scoring and video system will integrate seamlessly with existing Daktronics LED ribbon displays located on the stadium fascia.
Also included in the project is Daktronics new Show Control system. The company’s LED video processing system is touted as the best in the industry, processing and scaling live and recorded video signal to vivid digital imagery on large LED displays. The Show Control system is one of the latest developments from Daktronics, providing a power combination of control software, data integration, and playback hardware.
