Daktronics High Definition Video Resorts World New York CityWhen Resorts World Casino New York City (RWNY) opened its doors at the end of October 2011, enthusiastic visitors got their first glimpses of an incredible environment with more than 2000 video lottery machines, 200 electronic table games and amazing high definition LED video technology from Daktronics (Nasdaq-DAKT). The world class casino is owned by the Kuala Lumpur-based Genting Group.

The high definition display is located in the Bar 360 Lounge, a circular bar that backs up to sweeping views of the Aqueduct Race Track. The largest of the Daktronics displays is a towering screen above the lounge stage, proclaimed as the largest television in Queens. At more than 16 feet high and 28 feet wide, its concave shape is also unique in LED video applications. A true high definition display with 720 lines of pixels, it features the latest Daktronics six millimeter surface mount LED technology and is capable of showing 144 quadrillion shades of color, thanks to Daktronics world class video processing system. The display can be operated in a picture-in-picture mode, with multiple windows showing multiple channels at once, as well as other information in separate windows. The impressive high definition video display captivates and entertains patrons throughout the main gaming floor.

“Resorts World Casino has introduced New York City to a new facet of entertainment,” Michael Speller, President of RWNY, said. “Months after opening, we are still providing an exhilarating environment which is helped greatly by the Daktronics displays throughout the casino and the largest TV monitor in Queens.”

As part of the contract, Daktronics also provided 12 additional LED displays using the same six millimeter technology in a vertical configuration. These displays, positioned in the entry of Times Square Casino, measure approximately seven high by two feet wide and present colorful promotions and advertisements.

“Resorts World New York is unique in many ways,” Daktronics Sales Representative Peter Dunkle said, “and the new Daktronics six millimeter video display is also unique in its size, shape and true high definition resolution. It creates a powerful effect that is the centerpiece of the main gaming floor. We are proud to work with the Genting Group and help them to maximize the entertainment value in this unique facility.”
