Daktronics, Inc. displayed its versatile and comprehensive scoring and timing capabilities at the Southeastern Conference swimming and diving championships hosted at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, February 15-18, 2012. Two Daktronics displays kept fans informed as they watched the Auburn men and the Georgia women win the SEC titles at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center.

The large 21 feet tall by 41 feet wide video display is one of the largest in any collegiate facility in the nation. The smaller diving video display was moved from the university’s previous facility to the Allan Jones Center when it was built in 2008.

“With those two displays, we could show an incredible amount of data,” said Curt Engels, Daktronics Product Engineer for timing systems. “With our Show Control System, we designed sequences before the meet so it was easy to display the top qualifiers simultaneously with live swimming data on the same display.”

“Daktronics software capabilities gave our fans, coaches and athletes the cumulative and subtractive split times, scrolling top 16 results, plus team scores all in real time,” said Chris Scollay, Facilities Director for the university’s aquatics center. “With Daktronics exclusive swim/dive request program, the timing or scoreboard operator could request information in real time for any event. It was fun to see how engaged everyone was throughout the meet and how easy it was to keep the meet running smoothly.”

“Tennessee’s aquatic center was the perfect place to showcase Daktronics advanced scoring and timing capabilities. It was flawless,” added Engels.

Other Daktronics equipped facilities that have hosted or will host 2012 swimming and diving championships include the Women’s and Men’s Big Ten meet at the University of Iowa natatorium on February 15-18 and February 22-25. The Division II Men’s and Women’s championships are also scheduled for March 14-17 at the Mansfield ISD natatorium in Mansfield, Texas.
