Daktronics Inc., (Nasdaq-DAKT) of Brookings, S.D., recently manufactured and installed a new high definition video display system in the Donald W. Reynolds Center, home of the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes. This system is one of just a few indoor systems in college athletics to feature high definition LED video.
University of Tulsa’s new four-sided high definition video and scoring system replaced its old centerhung display. Two of the video displays measure more than 15 feet high by 30 feet wide. The other two video displays measure more than 15 feet high by 12 feet wide and slowly taper towards the bottom. These video displays will provide instant replays and statistical information to keep every Hurricane fan and athlete in the game. The entire cube-shaped system measures almost 19 feet high by 30 feet wide.
“Golden Hurricane fans deserve the highest and best quality technology available in the market today, and the new Daktronics video board and sound system will give visitors to the arena the experience of sitting at home and watching the action on a large screen television,” said Terry Hossack, Associate Vice President, University of Tulsa. “Our common goal is to set a new higher standard for our fans’ viewing experience that will be modern for many years into the future.”
Two auxiliary displays accompany the centerhung, each measuring 3 feet high by 12 feet wide. These displays offer additional opportunities to showcase sponsors and provide statistics and animations to keep the crowd on its feet.
Daktronics also provided a custom sound system for the center. When combined with the video displays, the new sound system delivers pounding bass energy, smooth mid and high range frequencies and high impact entertainment through the integration of audio, video and scoring technologies. The system uses the latest in digital audio technology, and it also operates on reduced power thanks to more efficient digital amplifiers and power supplies.
Also included in the project is the new Show Control system from Daktronics. Show Control provides a powerful combination of display control software, world-class video processing, data integration, and playback hardware that forms a user-friendly production solution. The new system is touted by experts as the best in the industry.
“We are pleased to be working with the University of Tulsa again,” said Perry Grave, Daktronics Sales, “It is exciting to see the university continue their dedication to providing the best in technology for their athletes and fans.”
Daktronics continues their relationship with the University of Tulsa after the installation of their main football scoreboardin 2008 in the H.A. Chapman Stadium.
