This fall, college football fans have plenty to look forward to with new Daktronics (Nasdaq-DAKT) systems in their stadiums. In all, 25 different college football programs are firing up new Daktronics integrated scoring and video systems and firing up their fans.

Iowa State University in Ames came back to Daktronics for a large upgrade at Jack Trice Stadium. A high definition (720 lines) 15HD video screen, set in a mammoth steel structure, now towers over the north end of the stadium.

“The debut of our HD video board and sound system at Jack Trice Stadium Saturday night was a huge success,” Iowa State Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard said. “The enhancement to our game-day atmosphere is hard to measure, but the excitement it created amongst our fans was awesome. The whole system exceeded expectations.”

Commonwealth Stadium at the University of Kentucky has added two high-definition HD-X video displays to be installed behind each zone. Each display measures approximately 37 feet high by 80 feet wide. Fourteen digital ribbon boards have also been installed in Commonwealth Stadium, surrounding the interior of the seating bowl. Daktronics also provided a custom sound system to enhance the game day experience.

“The addition of this new Daktronics system will provide our fans with an outstanding audio-visual experience, one that is among the biggest and best in all of college football,” said Mitch Barnhart, Director of Athletics at the University of Kentucky. “We are pleased to be working with Daktronics on this high definition upgrade to the stadium. We believe our fans, alumni and sponsors will be excited and thrilled with what the new system brings to game day. We are looking forward to our opener on 9-10-11.”

The University of Georgia is another repeat customer of Daktronics. The Bulldogs will introduce their fans to a new large-screen display at the 2011 season home opener on Sept. 10. Their new main video display measures 36 feet high by 73 feet wide, also using 15HD LED technology.

“We are looking forward to the opportunity to enhance the game day experience for our fans with a better quality picture and the ability to utilize the full screen for videos, replays and enhanced statistics,” said Alan Thomas, Associate Athletic Director External Operations. “It’s all about our fans and giving them a game day experience and environment that is second to none. Daktronics has been a trusted partner at Georgia for more than two decades.
