ZetaDisplay to Supply ICA’s In-Store TV System with Digital Signage Platform

0

ZetaDisplay, a leading provider of digital signage solutions in the Nordic region, has signed a four-year agreement to supply the ICA Group with the technical platform and services for its new in-store TV system. The collaboration will support ICA’s network of over 1,400 trader-owned stores across Sweden, marking a significant milestone for ZetaDisplay in the retail industry.

Expanding Digital Signage in Retail

Under the agreement, ZetaDisplay will deliver a comprehensive solution that includes technical equipment, operational support, and content management services for ICA’s digital in-store communication. The platform will be used to enhance the shopping experience by providing dynamic content on digital screens, allowing ICA to showcase promotions, product information, and tailored store-specific messages to customers.

The deal is considered a breakthrough for digital signage, also known as digital active media, in the Swedish retail market. According to Leif Liljebrunn, Vice President of ZetaDisplay, this agreement sets a precedent for the wider adoption of digital media in retail environments.

“This agreement provides a real step forward for active media in retailing. The market has been waiting for a major player to invest in this medium. We are naturally very pleased that our technical platform has been chosen and are convinced that this will be followed by other major retailing chains. Our estimate is that this order will amount to about SEK 50 million over four years,” said Liljebrunn.

Key Components of the Agreement

The framework agreement with ICA outlines a range of services and solutions that ZetaDisplay will provide:

  • Technical Platform and Equipment: ZetaDisplay will supply digital signage hardware and its proprietary software to ICA stores and their central locations.
  • Content Management and Support: ZetaDisplay will handle content creation in its studio, as well as provide communication support to individual stores, ensuring a consistent and engaging customer experience.
  • Operational Monitoring and Maintenance: The company will oversee the system’s performance, offering troubleshooting and regular updates to maintain seamless operation across all ICA locations.

A Step Forward for the Retail Market

ZetaDisplay views this partnership as a validation of the growing importance of digital signage in retail settings. The agreement not only demonstrates ICA’s commitment to adopting new technology but also highlights the potential for other major retail chains to follow suit.

The deployment of in-store TV systems is expected to transform the way retailers communicate with shoppers, enabling more targeted marketing and real-time updates that are difficult to achieve with traditional print media. Digital signage is increasingly seen as a versatile tool for engaging customers, promoting products, and enhancing brand presence.

About ZetaDisplay

ZetaDisplay is a leading provider of digital signage solutions, offering active store information on flat displays across retail and public environments throughout the Nordic market. With more than 40 employees, the company has expanded its presence in recent years by acquiring businesses in Denmark and Finland and establishing a subsidiary in Norway. Its growth reflects the rising demand for digital communication tools that enable retailers to create a more interactive and visually appealing customer experience.

Impact on the Retail Sector

This agreement could serve as a catalyst for broader adoption of digital signage in the retail sector, as other chains look to implement similar solutions to stay competitive. The collaboration with ICA positions ZetaDisplay at the forefront of this trend, providing a scalable platform that can be adapted to meet the specific needs of different retailers.

SpanImage First to Launch Latest NEC Digital Signage Displays on its Networks

0

NEC Display Solutions has confirmed that the very first customer to receive its new 15 series commercial displays for digital signage will be Span Image Kenya.

“This world-first is in recognition of the rapid growth of Span Image networks and continued commitment and co-operation with NEC, “according to Ian Gobey, General Manager of NEC MEA.  “Our close working partnership has been in place prior to the launch of the Span Image networks and we were able to share our extensive experience with them to help ensure a quality system deployment.  It is essential for NEC to partner with the leading companies in this sector and Span Image Kenya has the commitment to excellence that gives us the confidence that our brand continues to be associated with quality,” he added.

Mr. Cyrille Nabutola, Director of Communications for Span Image Kenya commented, “Span Image and NEC have been working closely since our launch in December 2007 and that preparation and planning has paid dividends as we now have the fastest growing installed base of networks in the region. Our rapid expansion plans require us to be quick to deploy the latest technology at our disposal and it is a sign of our growing importance that NEC is launching this new model series with Span Image first as their exclusive partner in Kenya.”

The outstanding sales achieved by NEC Display Solutions with large-format commercially rated LCD displays globally have made the company a leader in the digital signage market. The manufacturer of display solutions with its head office in Munich and Middle East & Africa regional office in Dubai has a market share of 23.6 percent in this product segment in terms of numbers sold and therefore leads the field by a clear margin in the last audited numbers late in 2007. The sales volumes of the 32- and 40-inch format models are particularly outstanding. NEC Display Solutions is in first place (32″) and second place (40″) in the manufacturer rankings with 23.9 and 17 percent market share respectively.

Thanks to a vertical product alignment with special solutions for digital signage, the public sector, point-of-sale or for use in the retail trade, NEC has established itself at an early stage as a competent provider of highly versatile display solutions for all requirements. NEC provides display sizes from 32- to 65-inch in the commercially rated LCD sector.  The addition of the new 15 series being pioneered by Span Image Kenya can only further enhance this position.
NEC continues to expand its market share in the Middle East & Africa region, an area that is recognised as offering significant growth potential for NEC and clearly a significant contributor to this growth is the partnership with Span Image.
“At present NEC and Span Image are expanding our business partnership throughout the MEA region and we are working closely with them, using our expertise in the market to help them deliver high quality signage solutions across a wide range of applications and industries”, according to Ian Gobey.
