ZetaDisplay, a leading provider of digital signage solutions in the Nordic region, has signed a four-year agreement to supply the ICA Group with the technical platform and services for its new in-store TV system. The collaboration will support ICA’s network of over 1,400 trader-owned stores across Sweden, marking a significant milestone for ZetaDisplay in the retail industry.
Expanding Digital Signage in Retail
Under the agreement, ZetaDisplay will deliver a comprehensive solution that includes technical equipment, operational support, and content management services for ICA’s digital in-store communication. The platform will be used to enhance the shopping experience by providing dynamic content on digital screens, allowing ICA to showcase promotions, product information, and tailored store-specific messages to customers.
The deal is considered a breakthrough for digital signage, also known as digital active media, in the Swedish retail market. According to Leif Liljebrunn, Vice President of ZetaDisplay, this agreement sets a precedent for the wider adoption of digital media in retail environments.
“This agreement provides a real step forward for active media in retailing. The market has been waiting for a major player to invest in this medium. We are naturally very pleased that our technical platform has been chosen and are convinced that this will be followed by other major retailing chains. Our estimate is that this order will amount to about SEK 50 million over four years,” said Liljebrunn.
Key Components of the Agreement
The framework agreement with ICA outlines a range of services and solutions that ZetaDisplay will provide:
- Technical Platform and Equipment: ZetaDisplay will supply digital signage hardware and its proprietary software to ICA stores and their central locations.
- Content Management and Support: ZetaDisplay will handle content creation in its studio, as well as provide communication support to individual stores, ensuring a consistent and engaging customer experience.
- Operational Monitoring and Maintenance: The company will oversee the system’s performance, offering troubleshooting and regular updates to maintain seamless operation across all ICA locations.
A Step Forward for the Retail Market
ZetaDisplay views this partnership as a validation of the growing importance of digital signage in retail settings. The agreement not only demonstrates ICA’s commitment to adopting new technology but also highlights the potential for other major retail chains to follow suit.
The deployment of in-store TV systems is expected to transform the way retailers communicate with shoppers, enabling more targeted marketing and real-time updates that are difficult to achieve with traditional print media. Digital signage is increasingly seen as a versatile tool for engaging customers, promoting products, and enhancing brand presence.
