T-Mobile has announced its plans to acquire Vistar Media, a leading provider of digital-out-of-home (DOOH) advertising technology solutions. The agreement, valued at approximately $600 million, is expected to close in the first quarter of 2025, pending customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions. This acquisition represents a strategic move by T-Mobile to expand its advertising solutions portfolio and capitalize on the growing DOOH market.
Key Benefits of the Acquisition
The acquisition will integrate Vistar Media’s advanced ad-tech capabilities into T-Mobile’s advertising solutions. Vistar’s platform manages campaigns across a global network of over 1.1 million digital screens and serves more than 3,000 brand advertisers. The deal aims to combine T-Mobile’s data-driven insights with Vistar’s tools for buying, selling, and managing ad campaigns.
“This partnership will enable us to deliver more personalized and effective advertising solutions,” said JP Colaco, SVP & Chief T-Ads Officer at T-Mobile. “By joining forces with Vistar, we aim to help advertisers reach their audiences more efficiently, enhancing the overall consumer experience.”
Michael Provenzano, CEO and Co-Founder of Vistar Media, expressed similar optimism: “For over a decade, Vistar has worked to make out-of-home advertising a measurable and strategic channel. Joining T-Mobile allows us to expand our capabilities and inspire brands to think bigger in connecting with audiences.”
Industry Reactions
Tal Jacobson, CEO of Perion Network, welcomed the announcement and emphasized the growing importance of DOOH advertising in the AdTech industry.
“DOOH represents a significant, undervalued opportunity, and T-Mobile’s entry into this space further validates its potential,” said Jacobson. “As the next big trend in AdTech, DOOH offers immense possibilities. We recognized this early with our acquisition of Hivestack in 2023.”
The Growing Potential of DOOH Advertising
Digital-out-of-home advertising is becoming an increasingly important segment of the advertising industry. According to eMarketer, DOOH is projected to account for over one-third of the $10 billion U.S. out-of-home (OOH) advertising market by 2025. Digital screens, which currently make up a smaller portion of the OOH market, are gaining traction as advertisers seek more targeted and measurable campaign options.
This acquisition highlights T-Mobile’s focus on utilizing technology and data to enhance advertising capabilities. By integrating Vistar Media’s tools, T-Mobile seeks to offer advertisers improved ways to connect with audiences, balancing innovative strategies with measurable results.
