The KFC Yum! Center, Louisville, Ky., recently opened its doors under great anticipation with many state-of-the-art features, including an integrated display system provided by Daktronics Inc. (Nasdaq-DAKT) of Brookings, S.D. The new system incorporates large screen LED (light emitting diode) displays within the seating bowl, professional grade LCD screens, and a powerful control system that will deliver high-definition digital content throughout the venue.
The most unique, among many new features of the new multipurpose arena is a venue-wide digital media display network. The next generation broadcast solution provides an internet protocol television (IPTV) solution that delivers multiple live content channels to any display in the venue. The solution is built around a computer network structure, so it can be expanded to accommodate nearly any form of digital media. Fans will enjoy dynamic content on over 400 large LCD screens in the suites, concession, concourse and club areas.
Engineered by an established leader in data integration, the Daktronics IPTV systems enables users to connect to a complete collection of news wires, databases and scoring devices to instantly present up-to-the-minute scores, statistics, news and information to any IPTV channel. Different channels can offer different information simultaneously from live video to data focused for fantasy leagues.
Daktronics IPTV system also offers the unique opportunity to provide true sponsor exclusivity. Operators have the ability to override content on any or all LED or LCD displays in the arena to show a sponsor’s logo or advertisement guaranteeing venue-wide exposure and greater value for marketing partners, and increased revenue opportunities for the property and its tenants.
At the center of the control solution will be the company’s new Show Control system, with the ability to take in various video, scoring, timing, statistical data and out-of-town scores and even point of sale information. With the Show Control system, all displays across the network can be turned on or off, control their volume or change the channel so all the displays show the same piece of content. One system provides total control and total integration. With the click of a single button one message can be delivered anytime to all displays everywhere throughout the new arena.
With Daktronics complete, comprehensive control package, the display system features state-of-the-art control hardware designed to seamlessly drive the fastest IPTV video encoders in the market that push data to LCD screens. This integrated approach to media delivery provides for a fluid, user-friendly control environment that eliminates costs and difficulties associated with engineering across multiple, unrelated components. A fully integrated system allows users to deliver multiple content channels to any display in the arena, whether it’s the main centerhung LED display, ribbon displays, or an LCD screen in a luxury or concourse area.
