Daktronics Inc. (Nasdaq – DAKT) of Brookings, S.D., announced today that it will design, manufacture and install a digital video display system for the Peoria Civic Center in Peoria, Ill., an SMG managed facility.
The central aspect of the new installations will be four new light emitting diode (LED) video displays, measuring at approximately 8 feet high and 15 feet wide, hung above the center of the arena. At the bottom of the display will be a full color circular LED display.
The new displays can be used in a variety of ways according to the various events taking place at the Peoria Civic Center and display the necessary information for any occasion, including Peoria Rivermen hockey and Bradley Braves basketball games.
“Daktronics was great to work with,” said Jim Wetherington, SMG’s Assistant General Manager for the Peoria Civic Center. “This process took over three years and their expertise and guidance was invaluable in arriving at a product that was a fit for our budget yet still a state of the art product. The interaction from sales, the experience in what’s worked at many other facilities across the nation, and the willingness to make this project a ‘Peoria success’ was what made our decision to go with Daktronics better.”
“The Peoria Civic Center staff was great to work with,” said Joey Hulsebus, Daktronics Sales. ”Together we worked through different options and developed a great custom system for the venue that patrons will really enjoy. The new 10 millimeter video boards coupled with the new Show Control system will provide fans with a new level of entertainment for years to come. Daktronics looks forward to a long term relationship with the Peoria Civic Center, SMG, XOS, and the City of Peoria.”
Peoria officials plan to use the display to enhance events with live video, improve promotion effectiveness for clients, increase advertising revenues, and better communicate with the public on upcoming events. The equipment will be used to enhance concerts, sporting events, and family shows.
In addition to the new video display, Daktronics will also install two auxiliary scoreboards, two digital player stats displays, LED locker room clock and timer displays, as well as backboard lights and transparent shot clocks for the Bradley Braves basketball competitions.
