Latest touch screens will be demonstrated at flat-panel display convention

NextWindow, a subsidiary of SMART Technologies (NASDAQ: SMT, TSX: SMA), announces it will be exhibiting at FPD International 2010, a comprehensive exhibition and convention on flat-panel displays. The event, to be held November 10–12 in Makuhari Messe, Japan, will draw executives, engineers, development researchers and sales representatives from companies that develop displays as well as companies that manufacture materials and components for these displays. NextWindow will be demonstrating its latest touch screens, which are used by many Japanese PC manufacturers and systems integrators, in booth 4725.

NextWindow will participate in an exclusive touch panel forum at FPD International on November 11. The forum will host an in-depth discussion on the technical evolution of touch panels and provide a detailed explanation of the trends that are driving the touch-panel industry. According to the FPD International website, the touch-panel industry is targeting a one-trillion yen market. As touch panel developers continue to offer larger screens, thinner and lighter designs, and improved durability, organizers of FPD International expect that touch panels will continue to become commonplace, not only in the mobile phone, game console and television markets, but in other consumer markets such as office and home wall screens. Japan is an important market for NextWindow – earlier this year, the company opened a sales and customer support office in Tokyo, strengthening its commitment to serving OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) and ODMs (original design manufacturers) in Japan and throughout Asia. At FPD International, NextWindow plans to demonstrate its latest touch technology, including the NextWindow 1900 Desktop Touch for desktop computers and monitors, and the 2500 Profile Touch, designed for large-format displays. Additional information about both the 1900 Desktop Touch and 2500 Profile Touch can be found at nextwindow.com/products/index.html.

“We look forward to attending FPD International,” says Al Monro, NextWindow’s CEO. “We are proud of the work we’ve done over the past few years with PC makers and systems integrators in Japan, and we look forward to demonstrating our newest products for existing and prospective customers.”
