Sonic.WedSEGA has partnered with EYE (@EYE_OutofHome) to launch a first-ever augmented reality campaign giving Shoppers the chance to “Catch the Blue Blur” and play a game of Sonic the Hedgehog at centres across Australia.

To celebrate the launch of Sonic Generations and the 20th Anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog, SEGA has launched “Sonic Vision: Catch the Blue Blur” – an augmented reality application that allows players to earn points by capturing an image of Sonic using their phones. Players can upload their high scores to a leaderboard, share via Facebook and win prizes from Sega.

Neroli Baird, SEGA Marketing Manager says: “SEGA Australia is proud to offer the Sonic Vision: Catch the Blue Blur app to Sonic the Hedgehog fans for free. It is a fun and interactive way for Sonic fans to use their iPhone to capture Sonic in the real world, compete against each other and win great prizes.”

Leonie Collins, General Manager – Marketing, ANZ and Group, EYE comments: “We are so excited to launch our first ever augmented reality campaign with SEGA and bring this campaign to life. This is such an innovative campaign and truly gives the audience the chance to interact with their favourite SEGA character – Sonic the Hedgehog “.

The objective of the game is to gain maximum points by finding the Sonic glyphs, then capturing a sighting of Sonic as he collects the gold ring while using sound and visual cues to know when Sonic is approaching.

The campaign runs for five weeks from Monday, November 7. The Sonic Vision application is available to download for EyecorpiPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 users from www.sonicthehedgehog.com/getapp or directly from the iTunes Store.
