Australia’s first Dynamic Stand Management System powered by Scala

0

Australia – Perth, City Link’s second stage, building a new underground bus station, enables the full realisation of a 100-year vision to reconnect the Perth CBD and Northbridge. The underground facility will replace the now demolished Wellington Street Bus Station and will incorporate Australia’s first Dynamic Stand Management System (DSMS) on over 100 digital screens powered by Scala.

RutledgeAV & Nilsen engaged with TechMedia to deliver the Scala Digital Signage software platform for the Perth City Link Project. The Scala Content Manager and players deliver live and up-to-date content and bus stand information from the DSMS to passengers waiting in the lounge on over 100 digital screens and industrial media players installed and commissioned by RutledgeAV.

The new facility is highly passenger-focused with the Perth Busport having a strong emphasis on passenger comfort. The underground lounge is divided into four sections, each with four stands, and operates using a DSMS to allow more buses to efficiently use the underground facility. This means, that from a passenger perspective, Perth Busport will work like an airport. The Scala driven Screens throughout the facility will notify passengers about which stand their bus will use, up to five minutes before departure.

A more detailed case study will become available later in 2016 once the full facility is up and running.

Signagelive and Coffman Media Collaborate with ICS to Enhance ATM Digital Signage

0

Signagelive, renowned for its digital signage software, and Coffman Media, have partnered with International Cash Systems LLC (ICS), a leading ATM service provider in the United States, to develop a specialized digital signage solution. This initiative aims to boost impulse purchases and increase merchant revenues in retail and quick-service restaurant settings.

Innovative Digital Signage Solution Drives Retail Success

Leveraging Samsung’s Smart Signage Platform (SSSP) with the 21.5” DB22D edge-lit LED displays, the solution meets ICS’s requirement for an affordable and space-efficient digital signage system. Signagelive’s System on Chip (SoC) software eliminates the need for physical media players, integrating directly with Samsung’s technology to manage and display content seamlessly.

Enhanced Customer Engagement and Revenue Opportunities

The installation of ATM digital signage toppers has led to a noticeable increase in sales and ATM transaction fees for ICS merchants. The system allows for the dynamic scheduling of content to promote products relevant to the time of day, such as breakfast items in the morning and snacks in the evening. Additionally, the ability to sell advertising space on these digital toppers has provided a quick return on investment for merchants by offsetting the costs associated with ATM operations.

Strategic Technology Integration and Future Growth

The partnership has capitalized on Samsung’s advanced chipset technology and Signagelive’s expertise in cloud-based digital signage solutions. Jason Ault, COO of Coffman Media, commended the ongoing relationship with Samsung and the seamless integration with Signagelive’s software across various projects.

As the ATM industry moves towards compliance with new EMV standards in 2016, ICS is well-prepared to leverage its digital signage toppers to stay competitive. The collaboration with Samsung and Signagelive not only enhances the customer experience but also positions ICS as a front-runner in the industry.

Canada – A team of seasoned professionals with a decade of experience in the digital signage industry has launched a new venture, Pixlac, aimed at revolutionizing the digital signage hardware market. The company, headquartered in Canada, will focus on manufacturing specialized players for digital signage applications.

Pixlac is founded on the premise that current digital signage solutions are hindered by inadequate hardware options, which often force software providers and system integrators to rely on generic, bulky computer hardware. This mismatch, according to Pixlac, leads to suboptimal performance and customer dissatisfaction. At the company’s launch event, founder Evan Kay emphasized the necessity of a dedicated hardware solution. “Our industry experience highlighted a significant gap in the market for hardware that is specifically tailored to meet the demands of digital signage applications,” Kay explained.

The company’s marketing head, S Hanaba, shared insights into the development process behind Pixlac’s products. “Over the last ten years, we’ve collaborated extensively with software vendors and system integrators globally. Time and again, we faced challenges in providing hardware that was both compact and capable of operating reliably around the clock,” Hanaba said. “Drawing on this extensive experience, we’ve engineered our products to not only meet but exceed these requirements.”

Pixlac’s product line promises several key advantages over traditional digital signage hardware. The devices are designed to be robust and efficient, capable of operating 24/7. The company also assures a product lifespan that exceeds industry standards, with a two-year warranty and an expected operational life of over four years.

With this launch, Pixlac is set to address the specific needs of the digital signage sector, offering hardware solutions that promise to enhance the performance and reliability of digital signage systems, thereby improving user experience and customer satisfaction in various industries.

JCDecaux announces 1000 digital screens for London Digital Network

JCDecaux SA, the global leader in outdoor advertising, has announced a groundbreaking initiative to transform the outdoor advertising landscape in London with the launch of the London Digital Network (LDN). The announcement was made at an industry event held at the Walkie Talkie building, one of London’s newest architectural landmarks, against the backdrop of the city’s ever-evolving skyline.

The highlight of JCDecaux’s vision is the implementation of a network of 1,000 state-of-the-art digital screens across London, marking a major step forward in their digital outdoor strategy. From January 1, 2016, the company will assume control of the world’s largest bus shelter advertising concession, building out this expansive digital network in high-traffic areas.

The centerpiece of the LDN initiative will be the installation of 84-inch digital screens in bus shelters throughout key retail hubs of the city. These screens are nearly 40% larger than existing displays, making them the largest of their kind ever deployed on such a scale. These will be strategically placed in London’s most significant retail zones, including areas responsible for a fifth of the UK’s retail spending.

As part of the rollout, JCDecaux plans to fully digitize the iconic Oxford Street, one of Europe’s premier shopping destinations. Double-sided digital bus shelters will be introduced along the bustling street, providing dynamic advertising opportunities to the millions of shoppers, commuters, and tourists who frequent the area.

JCDecaux’s vision for the London Digital Network underscores the growing importance of digital outdoor advertising, particularly in key metropolitan retail environments. With London at the forefront of this initiative, JCDecaux is setting a new benchmark for the outdoor advertising industry worldwide.

This initiative reflects the ongoing transformation of the urban advertising landscape, as digital technologies continue to reshape how brands connect with audiences in real-time and high-visibility locations.

LG Electronics Demonstrates IPS Technology, Ultra HD Technology At DSE 2013

0

Las Vegas, NV – At the Digital Signage Expo 2013, LG Electronics USA introduced its comprehensive lineup of digital signage products, headlined by the industry’s first 84-inch Ultra High-Definition (UHD) 4K digital signage display. Attendees at booth 500 were treated to interactive experiences with LG’s business-to-business (B2B) solutions, including multi-touch displays, transparent displays, outdoor signage, and new commercial applications for sectors such as airports and retail.

Revolutionary Display Technology

LG’s flagship product for 2013, the 84-inch Ultra HD Signage Display (model 84WS70MS-B), boasts an impressive resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels—four times higher than standard Full HD displays. This technology delivers unparalleled picture sharpness, making it ideal for high-impact commercial settings. Notably, the display has already been deployed in Las Vegas’ McCarran International Airport, marking the first-ever installation of 4K digital signage.

Advanced IPS Panel Technology

A standout feature across LG’s LED models, including the 84-inch display, is the In Plane Switching (IPS) panel technology. IPS ensures accurate color reproduction and contrast from wide viewing angles, both horizontally and vertically, which is crucial for maintaining image quality regardless of installation height or angle. Additionally, LG’s displays are designed to withstand temperatures up to 230 degrees Fahrenheit, preventing overheating and maintaining consistent picture quality.

Enhanced Outdoor and Specialized Displays

The 47-inch LG 47WX50MF Outdoor Display, equipped with Shine Out™ technology, is tailored for bright environments, deflecting ambient light to prevent color washout and ensuring vibrant images even under direct sunlight. With a brightness level of 2,000 nits, it is perfect for outdoor advertising and information displays.

LG also showcased its versatile ultra-wide signage, such as the 29WR30 model with a 21:9 aspect ratio, suitable for various public settings like bus stops and theaters. Additionally, LG’s video wall solutions, including the 47-inch WV30 and 55-inch WV70 models, offer ultra-narrow bezels and high brightness, making them ideal for dynamic visual displays in hotel lobbies and retail environments.

Pro-Grade and Eco-Friendly Solutions

The WS10 and WS50 series provide Full HD resolution with IPS panels and edge-lit LED technology, featuring built-in media players and sleek, narrow bezels. Sizes range from 42 to 55 inches, catering to diverse commercial needs.

LG’s commitment to energy efficiency is evident in its EcoSmart™ features, integrated into all LED signage displays. These ENERGY STAR® qualified displays include Dynamic Power Savings, Static Power Savings, and Intelligent Sensor options to optimize energy consumption based on environmental conditions, thus reducing operational costs for businesses.

Industry Leadership and Future Prospects

“From stunning Ultra HD solutions for retail to ‘shine out’ technology for outdoor displays, LG continues to advance the digital signage sector,” stated Y.K. Cho, B2B Senior Vice President at LG Electronics USA. “The outstanding product line-up showcased at DSE demonstrates LG’s superior display technology and solutions for a wide range of real-world commercial applications.”

Ayuda Announces Social Insights: social media integration and analytics for DOOH networks

0

Groundbreaking social media and audience analytics dashboard for DOOH networks to be unveiled at the 2013 Digital Signage Expo

More and more DOOH networks “like” social media. So does Ayuda Media Systems, who today announced its latest product offering called Social insights. With this latest addition to the Ayuda Platform for managing all aspects of an OOH operator’s systems, the Social Insights module allows for the compositing of interactive content directly from Ayuda’s Splash™ digital signage CMS, designed to interface with social media apps. Moreover, the Social Insights dashboard provides rich audience analytics that identifies who interacted with the ad campaign, thus helping networks demonstrate the value of OOH to their buyers.

“Our Splash™ clients have continually looked to Ayuda for guidance on how to tie in their digital OOH campaigns with social media,” recalls Andreas Soupliotis, President and CEO of Ayuda. “For example, a DOOH network may wish to offer their advertisers the ability to author content that is likeable on Facebook in exchange for the advertiser offering some kind of loyalty reward. Up until now, the answer was to have the agency or advertiser simply bake the interactive elements into the content. With Social Insights, we help the network provide more value to the advertiser by having the software do it for you, which makes it possible for the software to provide valuable audience profile data to the buyer. Instead of simply being a content delivery mechanism, the digital signage CMS becomes a tool to capture valuable data – the kind of data that helps networks attract the ad dollars.”

Social Insights accomplishes two objectives. Instead of requiring an advertiser to bake in a QR code into the ad copy, Ayuda’s Splash™ CMS enhanced with the Social insights add-on provides a mechanism for the operator to generate the QR code directly from Splash™ and layer it on top of any piece of content. Next, the consumer’s profile data is captured and tabulated into a dashboard that the network can share with the advertiser.

“After the QR code has been composited,” continues Soupliotis, “the real magic happens. Today, without Social Insights, when the QR code is baked into the content, the QR code would for example point to the advertiser’s Facebook campaign. The problem with this traditional method is that it may be difficult or impossible to distinguish which interaction came from the DOOH campaign versus having come directly from the site. This does not help demonstrate the value of DOOH. With Ayuda’s Social Insights, the software-generated QR code allows Ayuda to intercept the “likes” and tabulate the results into a rich dashboard for the network. The consumer is incentivized to opt-into allowing the advertiser to tap into their profile, which populates the Social Insights dashboard with metrics that the DOOH network can demonstrate to the buyer.  When the advertiser tabulates the insights into their Facebook ad manager dashboard, they will know exactly which interactions came from OOH. That’s how we help our DOOH customers provide more value and win more business. Ayuda has made the CMS relevant again.”

Ayuda’s Social Insights module snaps into Splash™, Ayuda’s digital CMS. Both Splash™ and Social Insights are tightly integrated into the Ayuda Platform, which manages the entire OOH media execution workflow from sales, to inventory management, scheduling, billing, and audience reporting.
