The new SureVu™ Digital Image Verification system obscures a 0.25” x 0.25” area in the top corner of the display under which a sequential test pattern, not visible to the observer, is injected by MRI electronics during normal content presentation.  This test pattern provides feedback to an RGBW photo sensor that continuously monitors not only the presence of the test pattern, but also the luminance, color saturation, gray scale, and contrast ratio performance of the image.  In addition, lack of this feedback will provide immediate indication that the image has been lost completely or the in-correct image / content is being displayed.

Screenvision takes U.S. cinema chain from rival

Screenvision_logoU.S. digital cinema advertising firm Screenvision has scored a coup by wresting the contract for Marcus Theatres, the country’s seventh-biggest cinema chain, from its arch-rival National CineMedia.

The deal, covering 675 screens across 55 sites, gives Screenvision exclusive rights to the entire pre-show advertising schedule at the Marcus sites.

ABI Research logoWhile most tech sectors have been slammed in the turbulent economy, the U.S. digital signage market is poised for growth this year, according to a report from research firm ABI Research.Total revenue from the market is expected to increase by 33 percent this year and includes hardware, software, installation and maintenance, said Zippy Aima, digital media analyst at ABI Research. Aima said 2008 revenue ranged up to $700 million.
