Sharp NEC Display Solutions Europe has introduced its latest product, the Sharp A201U, a high-performance LCD laser installation projector. As the first of its kind under the Sharp brand, the A201U is designed to meet the needs of various sectors, including higher education, corporate environments, museums, and leisure applications. This new model is noted for its high brightness, compact form, quiet operation, and energy-efficient design.

A201U Key Features and Performance

The Sharp A201U delivers a high brightness output of 20,000 lumens and WUXGA resolution, making it suitable for large venues and professional settings where clarity and image quality are essential. It stands out as the only LCD projector in its category to use an RB laser light source, which enhances red color reproduction for lifelike visuals. The projector also supports a near-DCI-P3 color space, providing one of the widest color gamuts available in an LCD projector.

Additionally, the A201U incorporates an IP5X-rated sealed optical engine to protect internal components from dust, maintaining image quality without the need for regular filter cleaning. This ensures long-term performance and reduced maintenance, making it ideal for continuous operation in high-traffic areas.

Flexibility is a significant feature of the Sharp A201U. It offers multiple lens options from Sharp/NEC’s portfolio and maintains compatibility with legacy lenses from the PA Series, allowing users to customize the projector setup according to their specific needs. The device includes free tilt and portrait installation capabilities, as well as advanced geometric adjustments to ensure precise image alignment. Other features, such as picture-in-picture functionality and camera-based blending, add to its versatility.

For streamlined installation, the A201U includes an HDBaseT-out interface, enabling daisy-chaining of multiple projectors using network cables for easier connectivity to a single source. This feature is particularly beneficial for larger installations that require multiple projectors to work in unison.

To simplify setup and system management, the projector is compatible with ProAssist, a software tool designed to manage various settings, including picture adjustment, lens positioning, geometric correction, blending, color uniformity, and white balance across multiple projectors. ProAssist supports automatic camera-based adjustments, making it easier to achieve uniform visuals in complex multi-projector installations.

The Sharp A201U’s compact size and efficient design help reduce power consumption while delivering high brightness levels. This combination makes it suitable for use in environments such as university lecture halls, corporate auditoriums, and immersive exhibits where energy efficiency and visual impact are critical. The Sharp A201U will be available starting December 2024.
