Exterity, the Building IPTV specialist, today announces the launch of two new products to advance its AV over IP capability – the AvediaPlayer Plugin and the AvediaPlayer Viewer. These latest additions to the AvediaPlayer PC player product suite extend the level of third-party application integration to include a range of popular digital signage solutions (AvediaPlayer Plugin) and Windows Media Player and the Microsoft Office product suite (AvediaPlayer Viewer).

Both products offer organisations the benefit of live HD TV content for dissemination across an organisation’s IP network; without the need for an expensive additional distribution network just for AV content. The new Exterity AvediaPlayer Plugin and AvediaPlayer Viewer will be demonstrated for the first time at IBC 2011, which takes place from 9th – 13th September at the RAI Exhibition Centre in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The AvediaPlayer Plugin integrates with a broad range of third-party digital signage and other dedicated application platforms based on Microsoft Windows. It allows organisations to use live TV and video feeds to implement engaging and customisable digital signage for distributing visitor information and advertising content seamlessly across a building or campus using the IP network.

The AvediaPlayer Viewer offers integration capabilities supporting delivery of live HD TV and video streams via PC desktop applications including Windows Media Player and Microsoft Office. Organisations wanting to incorporate video and live TV into applications such as PowerPoint and Outlook will now be able to do this across their entire network.

The AvediaPlayer Viewer’s capabilities support organisations in delivering high quality corporate and internal communications materials, allowing businesses to develop corporate TV channels within Outlook that run alongside employees’ emails. The AV capabilities of Microsoft Office are also further strengthened with AvediaPlayer Viewer enabling live TV and centrally stored video assets to be incorporated into corporate presentations, allowing organisations to deliver more impactful and engaging content to its staff.

Additionally, AvediaPlayer Viewer also supports the integration of HD video content into a webpage, allowing organisations to develop compelling and interactive corporate intranet sites and materials for employees, visitors and end-users using the existing building, campus or wide-area IP network.

Discussing the product launches, Colin Farquhar, CEO, Exterity says: “The AvediaPlayer Plugin and AvediaPlayer Viewer both directly address the growing market expectation for HD content without the need for expensive network investments. We are quickly becoming a content rich society and organisations now regard accessing video content in the workplace as a necessity rather than a luxury. These new additions to the AvediaPlayer family of products provide organisations with a wider range of ways to access and stream video than ever before, ensuring business video communications objectives are met.”

Exterity’s Building IPTV enables organisations to use existing building, campus or wide-area IP networks to leverage the power of TV and video. With Building IPTV, an organisation can supply an unlimited number of users with TV from all over the world with a range of AV services including: executive and training presentations, video on-demand, informational videos, and digital signage. Building IPTV enables organisations to utilise their existing TV’s, AV displays and even personal computers for TV and video delivery while supporting digital switchover and ever-higher picture quality and resolution.

The AvediaPlayer Plugin and AvediaPlayer Viewer will both be available early Q4 2011. To view the Exterity product suite in action, or to discuss the company’s new products, please visit stand 335 at IBC 2011.
