PPDS, the global provider of Philips Professional Displays, has partnered with Oracle Red Bull Racing to enhance the MK-7 events venue in Milton Keynes by installing a record-breaking 46.25-meter-wide Philips direct view LED (dvLED) wall. Now the largest indoor dvLED wall in Europe, this installation is designed to create a more immersive and dynamic experience for a variety of events.

Located within the Red Bull Racing Technology Campus, the MK-7 venue has been hosting events since 2018. Known for its display of championship-winning Formula 1™ cars and memorabilia, the recent upgrade introduces cutting-edge technology that reflects the high-performance standards of both Oracle Red Bull Racing and PPDS.

The venue’s new focal point is a custom-designed, horseshoe-shaped Philips dvLED wall, measuring 46.25 meters in width and 2.75 meters in height. The wall forms a striking backdrop to the venue’s collection of F1 cars, including those driven by reigning champion Max Verstappen

The Philips Public LED 7000 Series wall, featuring a 2.4mm pixel pitch, delivers high refresh rates, vibrant colors, and a total screen resolution of 19240 x 1144, ensuring sharp, clear visuals for attendees at various events.

The installation was a complex process involving 517 LED cabinets and 2,035 LED tiles, interconnected with 4 kilometers of wiring. Despite these challenges, the project was completed within a four-week window, requiring over 1,000 hours of engineering, prototyping, and testing. With an energy consumption peak of 70KW, the wall provides an efficient audiovisual solution for the venue. It also incorporates built-in cabling and a daisy-chain power system to minimize visible wiring, promoting a clean design while aligning with sustainability considerations.

The new Philips dvLED wall represents a significant upgrade for MK-7, enabling the venue to accommodate a broader range of events with enhanced flexibility and improved visual impact. The wall was officially unveiled during a special event on September 10, attended by Oracle Red Bull Racing Team Principal Christian Horner.

Nick Kenton, Director of Hospitality and Events at Oracle Red Bull Racing, remarked, “The MK-7 venue needed a refresh to meet the evolving demands of our events. The new LED wall has transformed the space, offering a dynamic and flexible solution that aligns with our brand and commitment to innovation.”

This installation builds on the successful partnership between PPDS and Oracle Red Bull Racing, which began in 2022. In addition to the MK-7 installation, PPDS has provided digital signage and display solutions for the team’s marketing offices and VIP hospitality areas. Tim de Ruiter, Business Development Director at PPDS, stated, “We’re proud to contribute to this cutting-edge venue. The new dvLED wall is a key part of ensuring MK-7 remains one of the most advanced event spaces in Europe.”
