Milwaukee County War Memorial Center, located on the shores of Lake Michigan in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is a memorial dedicated to honoring the War Dead of WWII. The main building, a stunning architectural achievement of renowned Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen, stands as a fitting memorial to those who have served in the U.S. Armed Services.
The War Memorial Center is host to many corporate events and weddings and helping visitors find their way to their functions has always been provided. Early on static reader boards were used and then as LED tickers became popular they were installed to help drive more awareness of the event listings. Recently the LED tickers began to fail and the War Memorial Center decided that the attractiveness of a digital signage-based solution would enhance the venues appearance as visitors walked through the entrance.
The War Memorial Center determined they needed to find a digital signage solution that was easy to operate yet sophisticated enough to impress visitors. To help their search for the right software solution and equipment the War Memorial Center reached out to Robert Munger of Munger Technical Services, a RidgeLogic Select Reseller Partner.
Munger Technical Services has sold a number of digital signage software applications, so identifying the right package was a very quick proposition. SceneStudio Pro was selected because it’s optimized for use in a single location, is economical, very easy-to-use and capable of displaying impressive multimedia content. To round out the solution a 42” LG LCD display was selected and placed on a wall mount at eye level as visitors enter the main building. The War Memorial Center used an existing PC as the media player which helped them come in under budget.
The event coordinator, not a graphic designer, updates the displays message each week in just 15-minutes. Event listings are enhanced by placing images next to each listing that help describe the event, making it more noticeable and esthetically pleasing to viewers.
The staff at the War Memorial Center is extremely pleased with their SceneStudio digital signage solution. The entryway display is more noticeable than previous solutions, meaning more people get help finding their event, and the content on the display is very impressive which fits in perfectly in a building that is renowned for its architectural achievement
