Harris Corporation and VBrick Systems have leveraged their multimedia expertise to create a powerful, combined solution that delivers digital signage and live streaming video over various communications networks. Customers across the commercial, government and education markets now have the convenience of using one system to deliver the companies’ combined digital signage and IP video streaming solutions to computer screens and digital signage displays. Harris is an international communications and information technology company, and VBrick Systems is the leader in streaming and online video systems and solutions. Their combined solution is on display at InfoComm 2008 at the Harris booth #N7119 and VBrick booth #N6841.
“Successful multichannel distribution requires a streamlined, automated media distribution workflow,” said Tim Thorsteinson, president of Harris Broadcast Communications. “The combined Harris(R) InfoCaster(TM)/ VBrick(R) solution offers content owners a single point of control for delivering rich media and the critical tools to effectively and efficiently support both online and digital signage delivery models.”
The VBrick video appliance and InfoCaster solution can be configured interchangeably into a network, providing a unique value proposition. The VBrick appliance provides network-friendly features such as multicast, reflecting, and HTTP encapsulation using standards-based video encoding schemes. When the VBrick appliance is combined with the Infocaster technology, the result is a single centralized digital signage system that can be used to drive displays at diverse regional, national or international locations.
The Harris and VBrick solution enables end users to enjoy:
— Lower costs and a centralized system: The digital signage displays can be driven to thousands of client displays.
— Interoperability: When the InfoCaster solution is used as the network interface, live video streams can be combined with other signage inputs, adding live video streams to existing deployments. This streaming digital signage channel could also conveniently appear in the VBrick EtherneTV live program guide to make access even easier.
“As the demand for both digital signage and online video communication increases, organizations will want to streamline the process with reliable solutions to help them not only capture video at the source, but also stream it live via the Internet and over digital signage networks to reach a broader audience,” said Vince Graziani, chief executive officer, VBrick Systems, Inc. “Our collaboration with Harris is just one example of how VBrick is shaping the future of video.”
VBrick’s core product offering is the industry’s leading networked video appliance. This Video Brick enables customers to capture and deliver live streaming video over any network. When combined with additional VBrick systems components and management software, the video appliance becomes the foundation an EtherneTV system. This complete video delivery system can capture, record, manage and distribute video across the enterprise.
InfoCaster systems are used for creating, scheduling, distributing, playing and reporting live video and graphics. InfoCaster manager provides the ideal way to manage video content for multiple applications, such as targeting customers over the digital signage network or providing internal corporate training and communications over the PC network, by using remote control and monitoring of groups of InfoCaster players and PC screens over the hybrid network. InfoCaster(TM) can be set to play the identical content on every screen or modified individually. InfoCaster manager uses LAN, FTP, TCP/IP network or satellite transmission to reach these wider audiences.
Harris Digital Signage(TM) solutions support the complete digital signage content delivery chain and are designed to scale from supporting small, multi-screen implementations at a single venue to enterprise implementations that encompass large numbers of venues, zones and screens. In addition to the widely used InfoCaster professional-grade graphics creation and presentation line of products, the Harris portfolio offers a full line of content management solutions for supporting creation, production, management, scheduling, distribution and reporting.
Harris Broadcast Communications offers products, systems and services that provide interoperable workflow solutions that span the entire media delivery chain. The Harris ONE(TM) approach brings together highly integrated and cost-effective products that are ideal for emerging media business models and for customers upgrading media operations to digital and high-definition services.
