Landmark investment in J Series Roadster projectors to service growth in UAE, Qatar and Saudi
Dubai-based Eclipse Staging Services LLC has ordered 40 Christie® Roadster HD20K-J 3-chip DLP® 16:9 projectors and ILS lenses to service its Dubai operation and future expansion into Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
The overall package, worth $4 million dollars, was announced by Eclipse Chairman, Mark Brown, and Christie EMEA Senior Sales Director, Simon Smith, at this month’s GITEX 2012 exhibition in Dubai. Smith confirmed that this was the largest single order received from a GCC-based rental house since setting up the Middle East office five years ago.
Eclipse already owns a large inventory of Christie projectors, including 8K, 18K and 35K HD devices. This new order, for which delivery is planned for December, will mean Eclipse is better equipped to service both its own clients and other technical suppliers in the region.
Mark Brown states, “We have been a trade supplier to most of our AV colleagues in the GCC region and having assisted an international projection company by providing 24 Christie projectors for the Abu Dhabi Grand Mosque to celebrate the UAE 40th anniversary last year, we recognised the need for large quantities of high quality projectors in the region.
“With this major investment in Christie technology we are hoping to become a regional hub to other technical suppliers within the rental staging industry, and improve the supply-chain economics between the Middle East, Europe and the USA.”
He said the choice of Christie’s next generation J Series was an obvious one. In addition to full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, the Roadster HD20K-J incorporates an improved Xenon 3-chip DLP® platform, offering higher brightness, Christie Twist™ and 3D upgradability as standard. It was these additional features and functionality that impressed Mark Brown. “The new J Series just ticked all the boxes for us,” he confirmed.
Eclipse will embark on another big investment by opening technical facilities in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and Doha, Qatar with a full service stock from 2013. Mark Brown explains, “It is exciting times for Eclipse and we need to rely on our relationships with internationally-recognised brands in the region, such as Christie, who are a long-standing partner and the market leader for professional audio visual users throughout the world.”
Simon Smith added, “This marks the next chapter in Christie’s successful partnership with Eclipse and justifies the considerable investment we have made in local services over a long period. Eclipse has been involved in some highly complex landmark projects and events across the region and we are delighted to continue supporting them.”
