Signbox Microsystems Pte Ltd, a leading digital signage solution provider in Asia, has announced its partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to host its flagship Signbox.tv cloud-based digital signage platform. This strategic move marks a significant step forward for Signbox Microsystems, allowing the company to offer a more scalable, flexible, and reliable solution for its diverse customer base.

Cloud-Hosted Digital Signage: Lower Costs, Higher Flexibility

By leveraging AWS’s cloud infrastructure, Signbox.tv now offers its digital signage platform as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model. This enables customers to pay only for the resources they use, making costs variable rather than fixed. With SaaS, companies can rent server software and hardware instead of purchasing and maintaining their own systems, reducing both initial and ongoing expenses. Additionally, the cloud-based approach simplifies management, as users can remotely control their digital signage from any location with internet access.

“Until now, we have been self-hosting our digital signage server platform using Singapore’s high-speed fibre network and robust power infrastructure. This allowed us to provide reliable services, but as our customer base expanded, we needed a more scalable solution,” said Stuart Lakin, Director of Business Development for Signbox Microsystems. “AWS’s infrastructure offers the scalability, flexibility, and stability that are crucial for our clients in high-demand sectors such as banking, retail, and cinema.”

Scalable and Global Solutions for Demanding Industries

The decision to partner with AWS comes after a thorough evaluation of various cloud service providers. “AWS’s offerings stood out in terms of scalability and stability, both essential for our customers who rely on real-time content updates and management across multiple sites,” added Francis Regan, Senior Software Engineer for Signbox Microsystems.

The cloud-hosted Signbox.tv platform allows businesses to install the Signbox signPlayer software on any internet-connected PC. Once the player is set up, it can be remotely managed and updated with various content formats from anywhere in the world using a web browser. This capability is ideal for organizations with widespread operations, enabling them to control multiple signage displays without the need for on-site servers or manual updates.

Rising Importance of Digital Signage and DOOH Media

Digital signage and digital-out-of-home (DOOH) media are increasingly being used by businesses to engage with their customers. According to research cited by Intel, digital signs attract more viewers than online videos or social media content. Similarly, an Arbitron study revealed that over two-thirds of adults and teens in the United States have seen digital video displays in public venues over the past month. The growing trend emphasizes the need for scalable and easily manageable solutions like Signbox.tv to meet the rising demand for digital communication platforms.
