Leading distributor upgrades MultiTouch tech for UK clients
Engage Production Ltd, specialists in interactive technologies for branded environments, has announced UK availability of the industry’s first infrared (IR) pen support for MultiTaction Cells, plus ‘Angry Birds Space’ multitouch application, from MultiTouch Ltd – announced and demonstrated at last week’s INFOCOMM event.
Developed for use with MultiTaction interactive cells, which are available in the UK via Engage’s Innovation Store, the IR software enables users to write, draw, sketch, and brainstorm designs using most standard IR pens, and can distinguish between pen and touch interactions. Engage is bundling MultiTaction IR Pen software with all new MultiTaction displays, and is offering a free software upgrade for all current MultiTaction models.
Engage has also installed MultiTouch’s ‘Angry Birds Space’ in its London offices. Launched at INFOCOMM in collaboration with ‘Angry Birds’ developer Rovio Entertainment, this augmented reality (AR) application is the first interactive multitouch application for ‘Angry Birds’ and is played on the 55inch MultiTaction cell with Windows 7.

Enabling simultaneous and unlimited pen and hand gesture input, thanks to MultiTouch’s patented CVTS (Computer Vision Through Screen) technology, MultiTaction IR Pen software can be used with MultiTaction cells for collaborative presentation, both as a table or a wall configuration of up to 24 stacked displays.
The MultiTaction ‘Angry Birds Space’ AR application enables players to play the game on the display and use the Mighty Eagle plush toy to switch from the game to augmented reality mode. In AR mode, the players can place ‘Angry Birds’ plush toys on the display to access character specific content. Players can then switch back to the game using the same Mighty Eagle toy. MultiTouch displays are optimised for augmented reality applications in which optical markers, cards, and real-life objects can be placed on displays to trigger information.
