Clear Channel Outdoor logoExpands to 34 Participating Airports; Introduces Airport Maps with Art Exhibitions Feature; Philadelphia Int’l Airport’s Public Art Exhibits First to Be Displayed In App

In anticipation of the busiest travel season of the year, starting with the tremendously high-volume Thanksgiving weekend, Clear Channel Airports (CCA) is reminding air travelers to realize the full potential of their wireless advantage with FLYsmart – the ultimate airport guide for stress-free travel. The world’s leading marketer of airport advertising and a division of the world’s largest outdoor advertising company, Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CCO), today announced the expanded availability and enhanced feature set of its free, location-based mobile travel app in order to ensure an enjoyable and informative travel experience. Moreover, FLYsmart contains rich terminal maps with greater detail and a new feature that highlights airport art exhibitions – the first exhibit of which is from Philadelphia International Airport.

Available for iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and Android devices, FLYsmart helps air travelers locate services and amenities in airport terminals across the U.S. The app works by mapping airport terminals and quickly displaying all the immediate information air travelers need; from ATMs, newsstands, gift shops and restaurants to gate locations, restrooms, clubhouses and more. Users can also access data feeds for flight arrivals and departures. Outside the airport, FLYsmart acts as a location discovery guide, enabling users to access information on hotels and services in the area and provide added details on local attractions in destination cities.

“FLYsmart was developed to navigate the travel experience with ease – especially during the hustle and bustle of the holidays. By tapping into our existing relationships with North American airports and amplifying our already robust suite of features, Clear Channel Airports is wishing FLYsmart users a truly connected holiday season,” said Toby Sturek, President of Clear Channel Airports. “Not only does FLYsmart put the most essential airport information right at user’s fingertips, the app has also become a gateway to local culture with the introduction of our latest Art Exhibition feature.”

Airport Art Exhibitions, On Display In FLYsmart
Philadelphia International Airport is among the visionary airports unveiling the creative possibilities for fine art in unconventional locations, outside of museums and galleries. The airport is the first to take advantage of FLYsmart’s new feature that showcases public airport art, and provides capsule descriptions and locations of current art exhibits. One of Philadelphia International Airport’s premier exhibitions highlighted in the FLYsmart app is the “Tuskegee Airmen: 70 Years of Aviation History” exhibit, which can be found in Terminal A-East – home to American Airlines/American Eagle, US Airways, Air Jamaica and Frontier Airlines. The Tuskegee exhibit depicting the “outstanding performance and extraordinary heroism” of a group of African American pilots who fought in World War II runs through June 2012 for ticketed passengers, and is just one of more than 15 curated exhibitions that are on display throughout the airport, providing a rewarding cultural experience among travelers.

The airport also recently revealed a large-scale installation, dubbed “How Philly Moves,” the details of which can be found in-app. The 85,000-square-foot mural by photographer Jacques-Jean Tiziou, set on the parking garages for Terminal B-C Baggage Claim, incorporates the images of 26 Philadelphians dancing.

Both the exhibit and the mural bring attention to Philadelphia International Airport’s dedication to public art, and Clear Channel Airport’s foresight to shine a light on airports as sources of cutting-edge culture.

“FLYsmart is an amazing app,” said Philadelphia International Airport CEO Mark Gale. “I use it on my iPhone. We are excited that travelers can use this tool to get around PHL, and we are proud to be the first airport to take advantage of the Airport Art Exhibitions feature that allows travelers to enjoy our fascinating Exhibitions Program.”
