Metropolis Performing Arts Centre has received a generous donation of state-of- the-art equipment from technology innovator NEC Display Solutions in support of its entertainment and education programs in the northwest suburban community.
In September, NEC, a leading provider of commercial LCD display and projector solutions, presented Metropolis with two new 46-inch flat-screen displays and an advanced professional installation projector for the main theatre. Additionally, NEC donated two cutting-edge lenses to allow for front and rear projection in the intimate Metropolis venue. The contributions of equipment were significant.
As part of its overall vision, NEC, a global corporation with Chicago-based offices in Itasca, has partnered with organizations across several continents in leveraging innovation to help advance communities.
“NEC is proud to partner with the Metropolis Performing Arts Centre,” said Ashley Flaska, NEC Vice President of Marketing. “We are impressed by Metropolis’ deep commitment to the community and are pleased to provide this non-profit with the necessary equipment to continue to serve its patrons and students in the best possible ways.”
Metropolis plans to utilize the new projector to incorporate increased visual media into professional productions, concerts and School of the Performing Arts shows. The flat-panel displays provide Metropolis with the opportunity to communicate information to patrons, parents and students on a regular basis, plus allow for video evaluation of professional and student performances.
“We cannot thank NEC enough for its tremendous support,” Metropolis Executive Director Jim Jarvis said. “The need for Metropolis to integrate technology into its everyday operations is important. We are excited to explore all the avenues this donation will open.”
