Over 32,000 industry professionals expected at world’s largest audiovisual trade show
NextWindow, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SMART Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: SMA) (TSX: SMT), announces that it will demonstrate its broad range of large-format touch screens at InfoComm 2011. The world’s largest audiovisual trade show, InfoComm will be held June 11–18, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. Approximately 32,000 industry professionals are expected to attend the event, which will showcase the latest integrated display, projection, audio, conferencing, lighting and staging, digital signage and communications system solutions. A pioneer in the development of optical technology for large-format touch screens, NextWindow will be presenting during the trade show, June 15–17, in booth 4975.
NextWindow large-format touch screens range in size from 15” (38.1 cm) to 120” (304.8 cm), and touch screens larger than 65” (165.1 cm) are currently the fastest-growing segment of NextWindow’s market. NextWindow large-format displays, including the 2150 IntegratedTouch, 2550 ProfileTouch and the 2700 OverlayTouch, are sold mainly to NextWindow’s global customer network of system integrators. NextWindow customers use these displays to build touch-enabled applications for end users in most major industries. The larger NextWindow touch screens are used primarily in classrooms and conference rooms, or anywhere that visual data is being shared with a group. NextWindow’s interactive displays enable users to manipulate or write over data during a presentation simply by touching the screen. Most NextWindow displays support Microsoft® Windows® 7, Mac OS X and Linux® operating systems, and recognize common multitouch gestures, including zoom, rotate, scroll and press-and-tap.
“As touch technology has become mainstream, more and more hardware is being migrated or developed to use multitouch systems,” says Al Monro, NextWindow’s CEO. “Corporate and education applications are big growth areas for large-format touch technology, and optical touch is a popular choice for these applications.”
About NextWindow touch screens
NextWindow’s patented optical technology is included in all NextWindow touch screens. Known for its accuracy, clarity, flexibility, reliability, scalability and durability, NextWindow optical technology offers many advantages over other touch technologies. A few of the benefits include effortless zero-force touch and support for multiple touches as well asmultiple users. The technology is also ideal for use in desktop computers and monitors as original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) can easily and economically convert traditional displays into touch screens. NextWindow’s large-format touch screens offer thin borders and a low profile, enabling easy integration into a wide range of hardware applications.
NextWindow touch screens are available as fully assembled displays complete with glass, or as a kit of components that includes optical sensors, a passive border and a controller board ready to be assembled on a glass substrate. To lower transportation costs and reduce inventory risk, NextWindow touch screen kits do not include glass, however glass is available in standard sizes and can be cut to fit custom displays.
