EYE Out of Home_logoLeading airport media specialist, EYE, is delighted to announce Manchester Airport’s successful launch of its recently refurbished Terminal 1. The airport has completed a £50 million overhaul of its Terminal 1 designed to “put the fun back into flying” and let the holiday experience start at the airport.

EYE has embraced this new development and has worked closely with Manchester Airport to install ground-up new inventory in prime locations designed to enhance the bright, spacious environment. As John Rankin, General Manager, Eye Fly UK, said: “Our media have been designed to complement perfectly a terminal of the 21st Century. We feel that our commitment to this world-class terminal has been endorsed by travellers themselves; results from our (recently released) Eye Tracking study suggest that travellers find the media in this terminal highly engaging”.

The refurbishment, which has taken place over the last two years, has seen the creation of one of the UK’s largest airside shopping and catering facilities and a completely new flow within the terminal, designed to make the passenger’s journey easier. With retailers spending nearly £15 million on fit-outs and new stores opening, there is no doubt it will enhance the travellers experience creating an attractive shopping precinct within the airport.

Andrew Cornish, Managing Director for Manchester Airport, commented: “Our terminal redesigns have had to withstand the test of time with the liquid ban and the terrorist attack on Glasgow Airport meaning we had to take them back to the drawing board several times, always putting our customers safety and security at the forefront of our designs. However with the work finished in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 set to follow shortly after, the future looks bright. We’ve seen retail growth outstrip the high street over recent years and many of our passengers have enjoyed the offering here at Manchester previously but we wanted to significantly invest in it and now we will wait to see whether those changes have an effect.”

The development of Terminal 1 brings a new airport experience to life enhancing the travel experience for business and leisure travellers at Manchester Airport.
