NextWindow 2550 ProfileTouch debuting at ISE this week
NextWindow, a subsidiary of SMART Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: SMA) (TSX: SMT), announces the NextWindow 2550 ProfileTouch. The 2550 ProfileTouch is a plug-and-play touch screen, meaning that no software drivers are required to operate it. The plug-and-play capability is valuable to systems integrators and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), as it speeds and simplifies the production of new applications. Designed for large-format applications, the 2550 ProfileTouch has thinner borders and a lower profile than previous NextWindow large-format solutions, enabling easier integration into a wide range of displays. NextWindow will be demonstrating the 2550 ProfileTouch at booth 11F66 at the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) trade show held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, beginning February 1, 2011.
The 2550 ProfileTouch is the latest large-format touch screen from NextWindow and is now available globally. Other large-format solutions from NextWindow have been used in interactive digital signage, directories, wayfinders, kiosks and education environments worldwide. Sample applications of NextWindow large-format touch screens can be found at nextwindow.com/showcase/case_studies. The 2550 ProfileTouch supports Microsoft® Windows® 7, Mac OS X and Linux operating systems, and recognizes common Windows 7 multitouch gestures such as zoom, rotate, tap and press-and-tap, enabling users to enjoy all the advantages of multitouch computing. The 2550 ProfileTouch can be supplied as a kit of components, including optical sensors, a passive border and a controller board, ready to be assembled on a glass substrate – or as a fully assembled touch screen including glass. To lower transportation costs and reduce inventory risk, the kits do not include the glass, which comes in standard sizes that can be cut to fit custom sizes. Additional information on the NextWindow 2550 ProfileTouch can be found at nextwindow.com/products/2550.
“Our focus continues to be the production of innovative and affordable touch screens that can be quickly and easily incorporated into a wide range of large-format and desktop products,” says Al Monro, NextWindow’s CEO. “We are very excited to announce the launch of the new 2550 ProfileTouch and look forward to working with systems integrators and OEMs as they develop new applications for the display.”
