JCDecaux SA, the world’s leading outdoor advertising company, has announced the signing of a 10-year exclusive contract to manage the advertising network for the Delhi Airport Metro Express. Effective from April 1, 2013, the contract covers both indoor and outdoor advertising locations and further bolsters JCDecaux’s growing Transport media portfolio in India.
The Delhi Airport Metro Express, a key transit link between central Delhi and Indira Gandhi International Airport, reduces travel time for airport passengers, offering a seamless, world-class experience comparable to international systems like the Hong Kong Airport Express and the Heathrow Express. The 23-kilometre line runs along a dedicated elevated and underground corridor, providing high levels of comfort and convenience.
The contract allows JCDecaux to manage prime advertising locations on this route, including elevated sections, piers, pillars, and gantries, ensuring extensive coverage of traffic to and from the airport. Targeting the same audience as Terminal 3 and Terminal 1D at Indira Gandhi International Airport, the advertising assets along this corridor are set to offer high-impact outdoor exposure to millions of passengers and airport-bound traffic.
This agreement enhances JCDecaux’s strong presence in India’s transport advertising market, where the company also holds exclusive advertising rights for Bengaluru International Airport. Globally, JCDecaux manages advertising concessions on major airport metro lines, such as the Heathrow Express in London and the Airport Express in Hong Kong. The new contract underscores JCDecaux’s reputation for delivering creative and effective advertising solutions across metro networks worldwide.
Jean-Charles Decaux, Chairman of the Executive Board and Co-CEO of JCDecaux, stated, “We are delighted to have secured the contract for India’s first airport express metro. This new agreement strengthens our transport portfolio in India and will showcase advertising excellence in the urban landscape of Delhi.”
A spokesperson for Delhi Airport Metro Express Pvt. Ltd. expressed confidence in JCDecaux’s expertise, noting, “With its international track record in leading airport and metro concessions, JCDecaux will deliver high-quality services to advertisers and enhance the experience for airport passengers.”
This contract also solidifies JCDecaux’s dominant position in the Delhi out-of-home (OOH) advertising market, where the company already operates 800 bus shelters as part of its Street Furniture portfolio. The partnership is expected to bring cutting-edge advertising solutions to one of India’s most important transit networks, offering advertisers significant reach within a highly targeted and affluent audience.
