This week a digital campaign is live on three sites across London promoting Universal Pictures new 3D film, Immortals. The screens show real 3D, seen without glasses, on new improved screens with a sharper, deeper 3D image. Bought and planned by Mediacom and Kinetic, this cutting-edge campaign enables consumers to engage with a bespoke 3D trailer on 42” HD screens.
Neil Chapman, Group Head for Create + Collaboration at Clear Channel UK, said: “The technology powering ‘glasses free 3D’ is improving all the time. We have the latest screens that take advantage of all these improvements to deliver an incredible viewing experience, day or night, providing great stand-out (literally) for brands.”
Viewers will see the characters appear out of the bus shelters in high profile London locations on Old Street, Oxford Street and Sloane Street. The original Immortals trailer has been converted to 3D with additional elements re-created to take the film promotion into the next dimension.
The ‘Real 3D’ total surrounding effect is achieved without the use of glasses through a specialist filter affixed to the high quality HD display. The LCD image is then subdivided into complex repeating segments that result in the human binocular vision interpreting the image as a ‘Real 3D’ scene.
