Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity™, today announced its first fanless embedded computer to feature the 2nd generation Intel® Core™ processor. One of the first of its kind in the industry, the KR8-820 is ideal for variety of applications including digital signage, intelligent kiosks, medical carts and gaming machines. An innovative grooved metal enclosure transfers heat from inside, acting as a heat sink and removing the need for a fan.

The Emerson Network Power KR8-820 features the 2nd generation Intel® Core™ i5-2510E dual-core processor running at 2.5 GHz to provide a significantly improved power/performance ratio over previous generation processors for both general and graphics processing. Featuring 4GB DDR3 memory and an 80GB solid state drive in a robust metal enclosure, the KR8-820 has no moving parts to ensure long-term reliability. It is fully Intel® vPro™ certified, providing robust security and remote management capability for trouble-free deployment. Measuring just 200 mm x 250 mm x 70 mm (7.87 x 9.84 x 2.76 inches), the KR8-820 can be wall mounted or mounted within a larger cabinet or kiosk for operation in an environment of zero to 35 degrees Celsius.

“With a range of installation options that includes VESA and wall-mounting brackets, the low-profile, slim-line KR8-820 is an important addition to Emerson’s line of embedded computers, adding high performance while maintaining fanless operation.” said Paul Virgo, marketing director of Emerson Network Power’s Embedded Computing business. “Like our KR8-315 and MCASE embedded computers, the KR8-820 is based on the latest Intel processors with memory, hard drive and I/O; and is fully enclosed for easy, low risk and cost-effective deployment.”

The Emerson Network Power KR8-820 features a wide range of connectivity to provide customers with maximum features and flexibility. A 15-pin VGA connector and two DisplayPort connectors support dual independent displays. Four USB 2.0 Type A ports provide easy expansion for peripheral devices such as cameras and printers. Two RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet ports provide simple wired connectivity, while a TOSLINK digital optical connector supports 7.1 HD audio to enable full surround sound.
