In case if you missed

BrightSign, a well-known provider of affordable and easy-to-use digital signage solutions, unveiled two new solid-state media controllers—the HD210w and HD1010w—at IBC 2010. These models come equipped with built-in Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n), designed to simplify and accelerate the deployment of digital signage in various environments. The new controllers are complete, high-definition signage solutions, housed in a compact yet durable steel enclosure that can be easily concealed. BrightSign is showcasing these products at Stand DS19 during the event.

Enhancing Flexibility and Mobility in Digital Signage

The new HD210w and HD1010w media players address customer demands for more versatile and mobile signage solutions, particularly within the retail sector. According to Jeff Hastings, BrightSign’s CEO, “The new Wi-Fi HD players were developed in response to customer requests for networking solutions that are more mobile and versatile, primarily for the retail market.”

These models simplify installation by only requiring a power connection, with content updates managed remotely via Wi-Fi. This eliminates the need for network cabling, especially in spaces where such infrastructure may be challenging or costly to implement.

Key Features of the HD210w and HD1010w

Both the HD210w and HD1010w offer reliable looping playback of full HD video, images, and audio. With Wi-Fi networking capabilities, users can remotely update content, making it easier to keep displays current and relevant. Additionally, both models feature Ethernet ports, allowing for the synchronization of multiple screens in video wall applications without needing an internet connection.

The HD1010w stands out with its advanced interactivity features, supporting various input devices such as buttons, touch screens, LEDs, and motion sensors. This model is also compatible with any GPIO or USB device, making it suitable for interactive and dynamic signage setups. Optional accessories are available to add extra A/V and control ports, as well as live video playback functionality.

BrightAuthor Software for Simplified Management

Included with all BrightSign players is the BrightAuthor software, a powerful PC-based application that allows users to create, update, and manage their digital signage displays. This software provides intuitive templates and tools, enabling users to schedule and customize content from anywhere with an internet connection. The built-in Wi-Fi on the HD210w and HD1010w further enhances the ease of deployment, allowing digital signs to be installed in locations without network cables.

These players also support wireless connectivity to services like Sign Channel, enabling dynamic content updates with RSS feeds, local weather, and even SMS text messages. This flexibility allows businesses to maintain engaging content and adapt quickly to changing information.

Durable, Reliable Design

BrightSign’s HD210w and HD1010w are built on a PC-less, fan-less solid-state platform, ensuring high reliability and low power consumption. The controllers have no moving parts, reducing the risk of failure, and are encased in robust steel enclosures. They have undergone rigorous thermal and environmental stress testing to ensure durability in various operating conditions.

Range of Options for Different Needs

BrightSign’s product lineup now includes seven stand-alone and networked digital signage solutions, from basic looping models to advanced interactive controllers. While the new Wi-Fi models provide enhanced networking capabilities, BrightSign continues to offer cost-effective solutions for customers who do not require these features. The standard HD210 and HD1010 models remain available, supporting Wi-Fi through an optional adapter and offering Ethernet connectivity.

Availability and Pricing

The HD210w and HD1010w are available for preorder now, with shipments beginning in October. Pricing is set at $449 for the HD210w and $699 for the HD1010w, compared to $399 and $649 for the standard models, respectively.
