PATH411 Technology, a division of International Business Systems Inc., a national digital signage solutions provider, announced that it has completed the installation of the customized CoolSign digital menu boards in the new Creekside Dining foodservice location at Salem Health’s newly expanded Salem Hospital, located in Salem, Oregon. The Nutritional Services Department required a more efficient way to change daily menu specials, schedule menu changes and update images and items on a regular basis.
“It was our intent to give our guests easy, visible access to the different stations, menu items and dining locations throughout campus while also making it easy to update daily or weekly,” said Randy Calligan, operations manager of nutritional services at the hospital. “In our new location we had the opportunity to place digital menu boards instead of the traditional static signs at each serving station, knowing we could perform updates quickly.”
Salem installed six 40-inch LCD screens over each individual foodservice station. The installation uses CoolSign software by CS Software Holdings LLC, Samsung commercial LCD screens, Magenta Research CAT5 extenders and the design, installation and content services from PATH411.
“CoolSign 4.3 is a powerful application that allowed us to create direct data links for the chef and his staff to update their menu items and prices daily,” said Brent Brown, president of International Business Systems. “We additionally dayparted the schedules to maximize their efficiency. One screen displays the breakfast menu in the morning, the lunch menu in afternoon and then can change to the evening meals.
“Additionally, the ability to display photos of the food items only enhances our image with our guests, and the ability to change the backgrounds with the seasons makes the appearance of an entirely new menu,” Calligan said.
