Abu Dhabi Media Appoints Malcolm Wall As Chief Executive officer

Abu Dhabi Media, one of the leading media organizations in the Middle East, announced the appointment of Malcolm Wall as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective from September 1st. Wall, a veteran of the global media industry, brings extensive experience in broadcasting, content creation, and media management, and is set to lead the company’s ambitious growth plans across its wide-ranging portfolio.

Malcolm Wall’s appointment marks a significant step for Abu Dhabi Media, which oversees more than 20 prominent brands in free and pay television, radio, publishing, digital media, and more. The company plays a central role in the UAE’s media landscape and operates across the wider Arab region. Wall’s leadership will be key in enhancing both the commercial and public service elements of the business.

Prior to joining Abu Dhabi Media, Wall served as the Chief Executive for Content at Virgin Media, where he oversaw the television business, the Virgin Media portal, and three major channel groups—Virgin Media Television, UKTV, and Sit-Up TV. His tenure at Virgin Media was marked by strategic growth and management of a $1.5 billion revenue stream. Wall also held the position of Chief Operating Officer at United Business Media, where he managed 6,500 employees globally and handled $1.3 billion in revenues. In addition, he is a founding director of Redshift Strategy, a prominent media advisory firm.

Commenting on the appointment, Mohamed Mubarak Al Mazrouie, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Media, expressed confidence in Wall’s ability to steer the organization forward. “Malcolm is a heavy hitter we are delighted to have attracted to ADM. He brings a wealth of senior operational experience in advertising sales, broadcasting, and content. We are confident that he will take Abu Dhabi Media to a new level, maximizing our potential both commercially and in public service excellence,” said Al Mazrouie.

Wall also shared his excitement about the new role, noting the company’s visionary approach and potential for expansion. “It is rare to find a company with the vision of Abu Dhabi Media, together with the resources and Board commitment to deliver it. I am excited about the prospects for ADM’s existing businesses and the new opportunities serving our local audiences and the region,” said Wall.

Abu Dhabi Media is a key player in the Middle East’s media industry, managing a diverse portfolio that includes television channels like Abu Dhabi Al Oula and AD Sports, radio stations such as Emarat FM and Star FM, and publications including Al Ittihad and The National newspapers. The company’s reach extends across digital platforms, music, gaming, and film production, partnering with international giants like Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, and National Geographic.

With offices in Abu Dhabi, Beirut, Cairo, Dubai, and Jeddah, the company is well-positioned to expand its influence across the Arab world, driven by Wall’s leadership and strategic vision.
