Agreement Adds “projector tiling” to new PA Series projector

Scalable Display Technologies, a leading software supplier in the emerging multi-megapixel display market, is pleased to announce that NEC Display Solutions Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of NEC Corporation of Japan, has signed an memorandum of understanding (MOU) to further expand their existing OEM license. The new MOU calls for the addition of auto-calibration of serially connected tiled projection displays plus additional license of Scalable Display’s customized version of its patented multi-projector alignment software.

The software solution provided to NEC-DS by Scalable enables up to four of the NEC-DS PA Series models NP-PA500X, NP-PA550W, NP-PA600X, NP-PA500U serially connected projectors to be stacked or tiled using an input signal of 1920 x 1200 with pixel perfect precision. The Scalable software has been added to NEC-DS’s comprehensive suite of projector management applications.

“The success of our previously announced projector stacking solution from Scalable’s leads nicely into this new tiled display offering,” said Koichi Ara, senior manager, Display Solution Business Promotion Division at NEC. “This new software solution is a cost-effective way to achieve larger sized displays with brightness in the 20,000 to 24,000 lumen range, while maintaining a short throw length and low power requirement. We are pleased to now offer high resolution and lumen solutions.”

Packed with power and a full lineup of features, the PA Series models can take on the most demanding integration projects in corporate boardrooms, education lecture halls and public display environments. The PA Series projectors can be seen at the InfoComm2011 Booth # 1901 from June 15-17 at the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando FL.

“This announcement is a confirmation that multi-projector displays have entered the mainstream” said Rajeev Surati, president of Scalable Display Technologies, Inc. “the benefits of increased display size and brightness built into the NEC projectors is very compelling to a wide range of customers and markets.”
