BTX to Showcase New ZeeVee HDbridge 2000 Series Encoders/Modulators at the 2013 NAB Show http://www.signageinfo.com/news/28532/btx-to-showcase-new-zeevee-hdbridge-2000-series-encodersmodulators-at-the-2013-nab-show/ http://www.signageinfo.com/news/28532/btx-to-showcase-new-zeevee-hdbridge-2000-series-encodersmodulators-at-the-2013-nab-show/#comments Thu, 04 Apr 2013 16:28:00 +0000 SITeam http://www.signageinfo.com/?p=28532 ZeeVee-HDbridge 2640Company Booth Will Feature Newest Encoder/Modulator Solutions and Offer Product Demonstrations

BTX Technologies, a value-added distributor and manufacturer of interface, integration, and system products, announced today that it will showcase ZeeVee’s new HDbridge™ 2000 Series encoders/modulators for smarter, higher-density HD video distribution at the 2013 NAB Show.

Using only 1 RU, ZeeVee’s new HDbridge 2000 Series encoder/modulator units can be easily combined to distribute hundreds of channels over existing coaxial cabling to an unlimited number of HDTVs, which drastically lowers deployment costs and simplifies installations. Both MPEG2 video and AC3 audio encoding also ensure compatibility with any HDTV available, making the devices ideal for cost-effective, local broadcasting of HD channels in a wide variety of environments including sports bars, educational and corporate campuses, healthcare facilities, hotels, stadiums, and houses of worship.

“ZeeVee products are unique in their capacity to provide full HD video to multiple screens without the need for costly rewiring projects,” said Kim Robbins, senior marketing manager of BTX Technologies. “With the availability of their new HDbridge 2000 Series, ZeeVee is further building on the brand’s flexible, easy to use solutions by enabling up to four HD 1080p/i or 720p channels-per-unit, better cable management, and remote configuration capabilities. We look forward to demonstrating these new products at the NAB Show next week.”

The HDb2620 and HDb2640 offer two and four 1080p/i channels, respectively, while the HDb2520 and HDb2540 provide two and four 720p channels. To ensure rapid deployments, the devices allow users to set all channels simultaneously. The HD encoders/modulators also provide breakthrough cable management capabilities by featuring commercial-grade DIN connectors that fan to both digital and analog audio for maximum flexibility. The result is dramatically reduced rack-wiring, faster setups, and easier diagnostics.

Using powerful encoding, the encoders/modulators enable the transmission of two frequency-agile channels per QAM while each channel also offers 45 dBmV of output power to provide strong signal strength for large deployments. All HDbridge 2000 Series units also provide ADA compliant closed-captioning support and feature Web-based Maestro headend management software to provide local and/or remote management of all channels.

ZeeVee’s entire family of HD encoders/modulators is now available through BTX. Visit www.btx.com for information.

Young rising stars: Apprenticeships in focus for InfoComm’s UK Roundtables http://www.signageinfo.com/news/27865/young-rising-stars-apprenticeships-in-focus-for-infocomms-uk-roundtables/ http://www.signageinfo.com/news/27865/young-rising-stars-apprenticeships-in-focus-for-infocomms-uk-roundtables/#comments Thu, 14 Mar 2013 14:31:07 +0000 SITeam http://www.signageinfo.com/?p=27865 infoComm13_logoNew pilot scheme to be explained in Leeds and London

With the UK government having extended its Apprenticeship initiative until March 2014, InfoComm International is taking the opportunity to make apprenticeships the main topic of two forthcoming Roundtable events.

The Roundtables, at Leeds Metropolitan University on Tuesday 19 March and at London’s QEII Conference Centre on Thursday 21 March, will both feature a Keynote presentation titled ‘Apprenticeships in the UK – What You Need to Know’ from Gary Chapman of the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS).

Chris Lavelle, InfoComm’s Regional Director UK & Ireland, comments: “The NAS is looking at ways of targeting SMEs in a very focused way, and has chosen InfoComm to be the second trade association in a pilot scheme whereby the Service uses information from association members to to help map apprentice frameworks and providers that makes sense for our industry.

“This is a great opportunity for the AV business, because although some of our members have already made use of the Apprenticeship initiative, it can be a challenge to find providers who offer a suitable framework for AV.

“The NAS is now committed to reaching out to InfoComm members with the aim of getting feedback on how to take this approach forward, so we are delighted that Gary will be joining us to explain how the new scheme will work.”

This will be followed by a Roundtable discussion, and both events will conclude with a Networking Reception so that attendees can get the chance to know each other better in a more informal setting.

Integrating apprenticeships into business practice

Focus 21 Visual Communications Limited is one company that has integrated apprenticeships into their business practice. John Chandler, CTS, HR, Training and Safety Manager says: “Focus 21’s AV Apprentice mentoring program has proven to be a success on many levels, providing the business with keen, motivated, capable and hard-working young people who have grown up immersed in “modern technology”. The scheme has proven itself to be popular with existing staff who have taken a great interest in the development of these young people as they can see that the future of the Company will be in good hands.”

“I would recommend the apprenticeship scheme to any young person who is well driven and is interested in kick starting a successful career into a great industry,” says George Tilby, Apprentice at Focus 21 Visual Communications Limited.”

Both events will begin at 2pm and are sponsored by Cisco. Attendance is free of charge to InfoComm members, £20 + VAT to non-members. To register in advance for either the Leeds or London event, please email Sarah Carless: scarless [at] infocomm.org

ISE 2013 has closed its doors after three days that saw record numbers of exhibitors and visitors drawn to the best-attended AV industry tradeshow ever held, anywhere in the world.

The show’s final total of 44,151 registered attendees represents an 8% increase on 2012’s world record of 40,869. Just under 900 exhibitors – also a record for ISE – occupied all 12 halls of the Amsterdam RAI from 29–31 January, with most reporting a brisk three days of business involving a healthy mix of new and established contacts.

On Monday 28 January, ISE celebrated its 10th edition with a widely lauded opening Keynote Address by renowned cyber-illusionist Marco Tempest, followed by a 10th Birthday Party at which some of ISE’s Founding Exhibitors – those companies that have supported all 10 shows since Integrated Systems Europe began in Geneva in 2004 – were honoured in a special presentation. The celebrations were preceded by three pre-show Conferences and over 1,200 people attended the Monday events in total.

“Few who attended our inaugural event in 2004 could have imagined just how big, how interconnected and how inclusive ISE would become within less than a decade,” comments Mike Blackman, Managing Director, Integrated Systems Events.

“ISE 2013 demonstrated more clearly than ever that the electronic systems integration industry is capable of defying economic headwinds and encouraging its stakeholder companies toward continued growth.”

The positive trend was continued during the on-site exhibitor rebooking process for ISE 2014, where over 500 companies reserved space totalling more than 30,000 square metres – some 93% of the show’s 2013 footprint and over 75% of the expanded area that ISE will occupy in Amsterdam next year.

Of particular note was the number of companies committing themselves to larger stands 12 months from now, and that many of these were smaller to medium-sized exhibitors who are relatively new to ISE.

“What we clearly see emerging now at ISE is a fresh wave of exhibitors that are building their businesses on the back of their ability to inspire new connections, greater collaboration and, perhaps above all, wonderful content,” Blackman concludes.

“All the signs point to a wonderful show in 2014, and a rosy future for an industry that continues to grow into business sectors that would have seemed out-of-bounds to us only a few short years ago.”

As ISE 2013 opens its doors for three days of global new technology launches, world-class education and countless new business and networking opportunities, organiser Integrated Systems Events has announced a further extension of its contract with Amsterdam RAI.

ISE has been located in Amsterdam for eight of its ten years as Europe’s leading show for professional AV and electronic systems integration. Its previous contract with the RAI – one of the world’s most successful convention venues – ran until 2016. This has now been extended for a further three years.

“Extending our contract with the RAI provides certainty for all of our event’s stakeholders: associations, exhibitors, visitors and press,” explains Mike Blackman, Managing Director, Integrated Systems Events.

“The RAI has invested heavily in infrastructure and facilities over the past two years, and this programme will continue in the future, further enhancing the venue and making it the clear choice for ISE for the foreseeable future.”

ISE is also announcing changes to its dates from 2015. ISE 2014 will take place as previously announced from 4–6 February 2014, but from 2015 the show will move to the second week of February, making it easier to manage for exhibitors who also attend January events in North America such as CES and Winter NAMM.

Amsterdam’s popularity as host city for ISE has been reaffirmed by the vital statistics for ISE 2013. Some 894 exhibitors are set to occupy more than 33,000 net square metres of floor space – both record numbers for the event.

Attendee figures are also poised to set new records, with pre-registration for ISE 2013 running around 6% ahead of the equivalent in 2012.

Full programme for inaugural Smart Building Conference unveiled http://www.signageinfo.com/events/25070/full-programme-for-inaugural-smart-building-conference-unveiled/ http://www.signageinfo.com/events/25070/full-programme-for-inaugural-smart-building-conference-unveiled/#comments Wed, 09 Jan 2013 16:45:45 +0000 SITeam http://www.signageinfo.com/?p=25070 Integrated Systems Europe_logoInternational line-up of experts to outline the latest trends in integration, energy management, intelligent building, working and living

Integrated Systems Events is delighted to unveil the agenda for the inaugural Smart Building Conference @ ISE. Promising a day full of industry insight, opinion, practical design advice and business intelligence, the Conference will take place at the Amsterdam RAI on Monday 28 January – the day before the ISE 2013 tradeshow opens its doors.

A joint venture of ISE’s co-owners CEDIA and InfoComm International, the Smart Building Conference will place the audiovisual industry at the heart of discussions about the future of intelligent building design. The Conference programme has been developed to attract architects, design consultants, developers, electrical contractors and other key stakeholders in the construction sector, along with the electronic systems integrator, distributor and manufacturer channels that represent ISE’s core audience.

“While other events have taken a star-gazing approach to the topic, the Smart Building Conference @ ISE promises a practical look at how intelligent buildings are already being designed, built and used,” comments Mike Blackman, Managing Director, Integrated Systems Events. “Delegates will learn how emerging technologies offer them new possibilities today, not just in the future.”

The Conference programme includes expert case studies illustrating the different possibilities available in specific technology areas, along with bigger-picture presentations from some of the industry’s pre-eminent educators and consultants.

Among the former, highlights include Lucy Martin of London-based John Cullen Lighting discussing the importance of control in good lighting design, while Gwen De Meyer, CEO of Belgian integration firm Van Havere, offers examples of multi-room media distribution being integrated with building-management technologies.

Energy management is a significant theme at the Conference, with Lutz Steiner of Germany’s Technische Universität Darmstadt outlining the transition from smart buildings to sustainable cities, and InfoComm’s sustainability officer Allen Weidman discussing the business opportunities promised by the newly created STEP rating system.

Energy saving will also play a part as Joost Brinkman of Accenture describes the award-winning Amsterdam Smart City project, introducing the additional topics of intelligent working and living which will also be touched on by Arup’s Graham Naylor-Smith in his presentation ‘From Smart Rooms to Smart Buildings’ and by CEDIA’s Geoff Meads as he discusses ‘The Smart Home Future’.

The Conference will be MC’d by Bob Snyder, Editor-in-Chief of Channel Media Europe, and will conclude with a panel discussion on ‘The Future of the User Interface in Smart Building Control’ featuring representatives from AMX, Crestron, Legrand and Control4.

“As befits the global appeal of Integrated Systems Europe, the Smart Building Conference @ ISE boasts a truly international panel of acknowledged experts and thought leaders,” concludes Blackman. “We are looking forward to an event that truly helps to set the smart-building agenda, not just for our industry but for adjacent sectors as well. Add superb networking opportunities, the additional post-Conference attractions of the Marco Tempest Keynote and ISE 10th Birthday Party and, of course, ISE 2013 itself, and this Conference really is an industry meeting point not to be missed.”

The Smart Building Conference @ ISE is excellent value and pre-registration is available online now, priced at €199 per delegate (InfoComm and/or CEDIA members €179). On-site registration will be €249 (€229). For more information visit: www.smartbuildingconference.com

The awards were presented at the InfoComm 100, a conference designed to bring together top AV industry thought leaders and volunteers.

“Jonathan Brawn and Christina Minihan are rising stars in the AV industry,” said Randal A. Lemke, Ph.D., Executive Director, InfoComm International. “InfoComm and the AV industry are pleased with all these young leaders have accomplished.”

The Young AV Award was created by InfoComm to recognize up-and-coming professionals in the audiovisual industry. These award winners are held in the highest esteem by their AV industry colleagues of all ages.

New Fiber Devices, Audio Cables, and Enhanced Signal Processing Products
BTX continues to expand its broadcast offering with a broad inventory of Telecast products, as well as expanding its inventory of SDI, fiber devices and signal processing solutions.

BTX Pro Plate and Panel Designer Software
The BTX Pro Plates and Panels Software is a configuration and ordering application that is so simple that anyone — from administrator to engineer — can start using it within a matter of minutes. Users simply drag a wall plate or rack panel from BTX’s extensive product library, and start designing and configuring. Connector options appear in an easy-to-navigate menu, including hundreds of popular connectors from manufacturers such as Neutrik® and Switchcraft®, in addition to BTX’s own award-winning connectors. Users drag-and-drop their choices to the desired spot on the plate or pane — optional engraving may also be added if desired. Once customers have completed configuring and designing, they can request quotes or place orders with the simple click of a button. Most orders will be shipped between five to seven days. With the most recent Pro Plate and Panel library update, BTX customers now have convenient access to floor box inserts as well.

BTX Pro Plates and Panels
BTX Pro Plates and Panels are available as standard anodized aluminum wall plates and panels, laminated aluminum color wall plates, formed anodized aluminum plates, and anti-bowing flanged heavy-duty panels. Offering complete customization and complementing any decor, BTX’s color wall plates are available in white, black, red, green, blue, and yellow, in up to six-gang configurations. The stylish plates feature a unique two-layer laminate over the aluminum that can be engraved to create a clean and eye-popping look in any commercial environment.

The formed anodized aluminum wall plates are flush with the wall only at the edge of the bezel, making them ideal solutions for uneven surfaces. Available in single and double-gang configurations, the plates are thicker and more durable than other solutions on the market, and feature an elegant brushed finish in clear or black for a sophisticated look.

The company’s rack panel offering includes heavy-duty, flanged, anodized aluminum panels. Even when punched with the maximum number of cutouts, the new black, one-eighth inch thick, one-piece bent flanged panels have the extra strength needed to eliminate bowing when attaching or removing cables. The heavy-duty panels are available in sizes up to 10-RU.

ProBlox® and ProBlox-D® All-in-One Connector Systems
The ProBlox® multiconnector system is a cost-effective solution for bundling numerous signals, combining 16 coax and 26 audio/data/control contacts in one connector. This configuration allows for fast and simple setup and tear-down in applications such as remote broadcasting, rental, rack staging, corporate settings, podiums, and more — saving both time and money in the field. ProBlox is field-terminable and custom-configurable for numerous combinations. It can be used any time HDTV, video, VGA, analog/digital audio, control signals, or DC power must be fed to a single location. Constructed of rugged and durable components, and offering true 75-ohm video contacts for an HD signal, the ProBlox system reduces the number of individual connectors, eliminating clutter and offering a clean, professional finished look.

BTX’s patented ProBlox-D® all-in-one connector system is the broadcast industry’s first to incorporate multiple data, HD video, audio, and control signals in a single connector. The system contains two Cat 5e connectors along with 16 HD video and 18 audio and control contacts — all field-terminable. The addition of the Cat 5e components takes advantage of all the signals — including HDMI®, DVI, and VGA — that can now effectively be run over one or two Cat 5e cables. The ProBlox-D connector system simplifies setup in remote broadcasting, rental, rack staging, or any application where multiple signals of different formats must be delivered to a single connection point.

Online Instructional Videos and Webinars
As part of its commitment to customer education, BTX is now offering a series of free online instructional videos and webinars. By visiting http://vimeo.com/btxtechnologies/videos, customers can view comprehensive, in-depth webinars, product videos, and demonstrations. The video and webinar library will continue to expand, with more content being added on a regular basis.
