Daktronics Inc. (NASDAQ-DAKT), and Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CCO) today announced the installation of four new digital billboard posters in the Albuquerque area. The Daktronics-manufactured 4K series digital billboards measure approximately 11 feet by 22 feet and utilize 16 mm pixel spacing.
After ten years of discussion between Clear Channel and Albuquerque School District, Clear Channel paved the way for change. CCO partnered with the school district to launch the four, poster-sized digital billboards in high trafficked locations surrounding Cibola, Del Norte, Eldorado and Manzano high schools.
“Taking the time to make this work for all parties was vitally important,” said Sally Adams, president of Clear Channel Outdoor in Albuquerque. “A key issue was ensuring that our partnership would be profitable for the school system and an essential part of the solution was working through the foundation. We know that for an entity like the school district, which is accountable to the public, it’s important to ensure them transparency up front. We’re gratified to be working with such a forward looking team as the Albuquerque District.”
The partnership was developed to present public service announcements (PSA), emergency messages, and restrictions on categories that include alcohol, gaming, and tobacco, amongst others. One out of every eight ad rotations on the digital boards will be used for communicating Albuquerque School District campaigns and messages; such as celebrating success of teachers, students and even registration information or sports scores. Digital Outdoor offers unparalleled flexibility to advertisers, allowing them to adapt their messages to the time of day and market conditions, as well as target specific audiences demographically and geographically.
By teaming up with four schools in Albuquerque, CCO hopes to branch out to more in the future.
“Our primary goal is to increase awareness of public and private partnerships in this challenging economic time,” Adams said. “It helps those involved see the good for all.”
Jerry Young, Daktronics account manager for CCO, says the outdoor company has been a leader in successfully utilizing the digital medium to promote public service announcements to the community.
“Clear Channel understands how digital billboards can benefit a community with their high visibility and commanding impact on audiences,” said Young. “They have repeatedly shown how communities and organizations who utilize digital outdoor for promoting PSAs and other public information really can enhance overall awareness.”
