daktronics logoSports fans will experience matches like never before at the redeveloped Gold Coast Stadium. There will be new LED displays provided by Daktronics Inc. (Nasdaq-DAKT) of Brookings, S.D., USA, to stream live video, graphics and statistics which will keep the crowd informed and entertained. Installation of the integrated system is scheduled to be completed early in 2011, for the official opening of the facility on May 28, 2011.

The main display will feature Daktronics DVX-15HD technology, the first of its kind in Australia. Measuring approximately 8.5 meters high x 23.0 meters wide (28’ x 78‘), the new display has the ability to not only operate as an independent LED screen displaying crystal clear images and stream live video but can also be sectioned off into windows to show an array of statistics, information, graphics and animations. The 200 sq/m videoboard will be located behind the goals at the Northern End of the stadium, allowing more than 90% of attendees in the horseshoe shaped seating bowl a clear view of the high resolution imagery.

“This is a great opportunity to work with Gold Coast Stadium and the Australia Football League (AFL), using our latest DVX technology in a premier stadium in Australia,“ stated Blair Robertson, General Manager of Daktronics Australia.

“We are excited to be working with Daktronics to install a high-definition videoboard at Gold Coast Stadium. We believe it will be one of the highlight pieces of infrastructure at the venue and will enhance the fan experience at Gold Coast Suns AFL matches and other sporting events” said Simon Gorr, Stadium Development Manager at the AFL.

Along with this display, there will be an LED Message Centre mounted along the fascia of the seating deck at the Southern End of the stadium which is also capable of showing scores, logos, graphics, photos and animations.

The video display will be controlled by the Daktronics Show Control System, another one of the latest developments from Daktronics. This video control system is touted by experts as the best in the industry, processing and scaling live and recorded video signal to vivid digital imagery on large displays. The system offers a powerful combination of control software, data integration and playback hardware that forms a user-friendly production solution.
