Daktronics Integrated LED Display System McCamish PavilionAs Yellow Jacket fans swarmed back to McCamish Pavilion for the college basketball season, they were treated to a new LED video display system courtesy of Daktronics of Brookings, S.D. Georgia Tech partnered with Daktronics to design, manufacture and install the four-sided centerhung display system with the honeycomb accents unique to the Yellow Jackets.

“Working with Daktronics was everything we had hoped it would be,” said Andy Blanton, Director of Video Operations for Georgia Tech Athletic Association. “The installation was perfect, given our tight timeline. We successfully completed our first season with no issues. We will certainly use Daktronics in the future for our LED displays.”

Four main video displays feature 10mm line spacing and measure more than 11 feet high by more than 15 feet wide, with two displays facing the sidelines and two displays facing the end lines. Each display is capable of showing one large image to highlight live video and instant replays, or they can be divided into separate windows to show a variety of vivid graphics, colorful animations, up-to-the-minute statistics, scoring information and sponsor advertisements.

An LED ring display hangs below the main video displays to show supplemental statistics and other game information as well as providing additional opportunities for sponsors. The display features 20 millimeter line spacing and measures 6 feet high by more than 66 feet in circumference.

In addition to the centerhung configuration, an LED ribbon display circles the arena on the front edge of the upper seating bowl. It features 20 millimeter line spacing and measures nearly 3 feet high by 615 feet in length. Like the ring display, this ribbon display provides for additional sponsorship opportunities while also displaying additional statistics and other game information.

“Daktronics is excited to be a part of the new renovation of McCavish Pavilion on the campus of Georgia Tech University,” said Kyle Adams, Daktronics Sales Representative. “We are very pleased about how the new system looks and what it brings to the fan experience for Georgia tech fans! They did a great job turning an older building into a great venue that is state-of-the-art in college athletics.”

Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with minimal maintenance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
