Wright State University Installs Unique Centerhung Display at the Nutter Center

Daktronics Inc. (Nasdaq-DAKT) of Brookings, S.D., recently installed a state-of-the-art centerhung display at the Nutter Center on the campus of Wright State University. Installed prior to Wright State Raiders basketball season opener, the new centerhung display features four levels of Daktronics industry-leading LED (light emitting diode) technology.

“The improved video capabilities, messaging and information displays that we now have, give us the versatility to display graphics, motion graphics and video on all four display elements. Our production and marketing folks now have the ability to be more creative during games for fan interaction and client advertising,” said Andy Montesano, Manager Video Technology Services. “The fans immediately noticed the obvious differences such as a much brighter, clearer video display and the ability to display the score, time and real-time stats throughout the game. In addition the fan interaction with motion graphics now makes for a very entertaining event.”

Montesano added, “We chose Daktronics because it was a total system integration. We worked with their engineers to customize their system to our needs with very little difficulty. Utilizing the Daktronics Show Control System we can communicate with every display in our venue with the touch of one button which is easily programmable and allows us flexible content delivery throughout the venue.”

“Since the installation of our new system we have had rave reviews from everyone we come in contact with about how awesome the displays look. Nothing but positive feedback and a lot of smiling faces.”

Highlighting the large centerhung are four large video screens measuring approximately 8 feet high by 14 feet wide and utilizing the latest in LED technology offering excellent clarity and contrast of images. This technology and its control system allow for complete flexibility in programming. The main video boards can operate as single displays or be divided into multiple zones (windows) to show a wide variety of statistics, information, graphics, animation and live and recorded video.

Above the main video boards are additional LED displays to keep fans and players entertained and informed by displaying game in progress information.

Located on the top and bottom of the centerhung are LED ring displays capable of showing game information, real-time team and player statistics, animation and cropped video clips to raise the crowd’s interest and enthusiasm level. These displays can also be used in a variety of creative ways to recognize and activate sponsors.

Also included are Daktronics video image processing technologies and the new Show Control system. The company’s LED video processing system is touted as the best in the industry, processing and scaling live and recorded video signal to vivid digital imagery on large LED displays. The Show Control system is one of the latest developments from Daktronics, providing a power combination of control software, data integration, and playback hardware.
