Fully integrated with CoolSign™, the player will support CoolSign’s advanced Datawatcher for real-time and automated information updates and its renowned advanced player-level scheduling. Supporting multiple regions, ultra smooth tickers, and full motion 1080p60 video playout, this new player is the first of its kind in the digital signage industry. Integrated IP Video and Digital Signage Solutions With Furnace™ and CoolSign™
Haivision brings together digital signage and live IP video with its award-winning CoolSign™ digital signage solution and its acclaimed Furnace™ IP video distribution system. Deployed in stadiums, universities, and corporate and retail facilities around the world, CoolSign provides the simplest infrastructure for scalable, data driven, enterprise-grade digital signage. Integrated with Haivision’s Furnace IP video system, CoolSign is the only signage platform for distributing live broadcast feeds securely within a facility thus adhering to the requirements of content providers.

CoolSign™ 5.0 — New Features:

Secure IP Video Distribution — Integration With Haivision’s Furnace™ IP Video Platform
CoolSign™ 5.0 now supports encrypted HD video streams as delivered by the Furnace™ IP video system. Furnace is broadly adopted for delivering secure video over multicast within an enterprise or across a campus. Security (content protection) is essential when distributing live broadcast because it is a requirement of any content provider. Whether within a region or full screen, CoolSign is now the only digital signage system that supports encrypted multicast IP video streams.

Simplified Web Interface — Bringing Signage Control and Workflows to Any User
Addressing the needs of local content contribution and control, CoolSign™ 5.0 includes a new cross-platform user interface enabling additional content workflows within an organization. For the receptionist that needs to quickly put up welcome screens, for the floor manager broadcasting a quality alert, or for the store manager to insert store specific content using a template, CoolSign’s new user interface is accessible in browsers on PCs, tablets, and mobile devices. Local user content can be managed according to rule sets established by the signage system administrator.

Furnace™ — Secure IP Video Distribution System
Haivision’s Furnace™ IP video distribution system provides an end-to-end solution for enterprise IPTV. Supporting stream encryption from the source encoder to all InStream™ zero-install cross-platform players, Stingray™ set-top boxes, and CoolSign™ digital signage players, the Furnace allows any facility or campus to distribute live broadcast video that requires content protection. The Furnace also provides a high level of control to live streams with administrators able to assign access rights at a device and user level.

Haivision Speaking Sessions at DSE

Implementing and Managing a Successful Campus-Wide Digital Signage Network
Digital signage networks at universities continue to gain momentum and have become a powerful communications tool for educating students and faculty, promoting school activities in order to maximize engagement, and serving as emergency alert systems across departments and campuses. This session will examine the University of British Columbia’s digital signage deployment, which started as a greener, less wasteful, and more engaging replacement for table tents and paper fliers and has grown into a centralized, enterprise-wide digital signage solution.

Feb. 26
9:30 a.m.– 10:00 a.m.
Speakers: Wilson Lo, senior programmer analyst, University of British Columbia and Bill Taylor, director of digital signage, Haivision

How the Convergence of Digital Signage and IPTV Can Attract Fans and Increase Revenue at Sports Venues
Sports entertainment is big business. Whether college or professional sports, there is stiff competition for fans’ attention — and dollars. Digital signage and IPTV systems deployed throughout a stadium or arena can give these large venues a competitive edge. In this session, Haivision will discuss how the University of Oregon used digital signage to keep fans engaged in games while enticing them to exit the main arena to make purchases and enjoy the clubrooms in its new, state-of-the art basketball arena.

Gefen New Solutions at ISE 2013 http://www.signageinfo.com/events/25388/gefen-new-solutions-at-ise-2013/ http://www.signageinfo.com/events/25388/gefen-new-solutions-at-ise-2013/#comments Thu, 24 Jan 2013 14:05:45 +0000 SITeam http://www.signageinfo.com/?p=25388 Gefen_logoDigital connectivity solutions provider Gefen unveils new system integration hardware and innovative 3GSDI solutions for professional and broadcast applications.

Daisy Chain HD System

Comprised of a sender, splitter and receiver units, all three work together to deliver 1080p full HD to up to 100 displays using one CAT-5 cable in a daisy chain concept.  Individual displays can be mounted next to each other or up to 100 meters apart. It can create a daisy chain to 30 displays from one splitter to the next splitter or receiver or a tree-like signal distribution in which splitters are used to create “branches” to 100 displays.

8×8, 16×16 and 32×32 Modular Matrixes

Each matrix frame can contain a mix of both DVI and DisplayPort input boards combined with DVI, ELR (Extra Long Range) and 1FO (Fiber Optic) output boards. Each matrix allows for a unique customization of inputs and output boards in groups of eight. The 8x DVI board outputs to eight local displays. The 8x ELR board extends eight outputs up to 100 meters using one CAT-5 cable per display.  The 8x 1FO board extends eight outputs up to 330 meters using one fiber optic cable per display for longer distances.

Gefen ToolBox Ultra HD Splitters

Includes 1:2, 1:4 and 1:8 distributions, delivering Ultra HD video with audio in the HDMI format from a single source to two, four or eight displays. Built-in EDID management ensures the integrity of the signal throughout the distribution and retains signal purity when powering either the source or displays on/off. Lossless audio formats such as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio are delivered along with resolutions up to 4k and 3DTV pass-through.

Gefen ToolBox Ultra HD Switchers/Matrixes

The 4×1 is a four input/one output switch. The 4×2 is a small matrix allowing four sources to switch between two independent outputs. The 6×2 uses a new Ultra HD chip technology allowing seamless switching between six Ultra HD sources and two independent displays. All include Gefen FST (Fast Switching Technology) to speed switching time and improve the HDCP authentication process.

3GSDI Audio Embedder/DeEmbedeer

The GefenPRO 3GSDI Audio Embedder implants one of four independent AES/EBU digital audio streams into a 3GSDI signal, allowing different audio streams to be re-assigned on the input side.  The Gefen PRO 3GSDI Audio DeEmbedder extracts audio from a 3GSDI source and outputs it as one of four digital AES/EBU audio streams, allowing individual digital audio channels to be re-arranged on the output.

GefenPRO 3GSDI Scalers

The GefenPRO HDVI to 3GSDI Scaler allows users to switch between either an HDMI or DVI input and convert and scale the output to 3GSDI with frame synchronization for an impeccable performance. The GefenPRO 3GSDI to 3GSDI Scaler w/frame synchronizer enables a high quality video output for different SDI sources and displays, which can be up or downscaled to match the ideal output. Adjustable cadence detection, frame rate conversion, detail enhancements and advanced noise reduction all improve video output quality.

KVM over LAN Extenders

Three new KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) extenders from Gefen use a sender and receiver system that allows computer access from locations anywhere in the building that use the same Ethernet network. Three new products support HDMI, DVI and VGA formats. These products stream video, two channel audio, microphone in/out, USB, RS-232 and IR remote control over any Gigabit Ethernet LAN (Local Area Network).

DVI Extension

The DVI RS-232 over Fiber Extender delivers DVI with RS-232 up to 300 meters over a single strand of multi-mode fiber optic cable terminated in SC. The DVI Extender over CAT-6 with Galvanic Isolator delivers DVI up to 100 meters using one CAT-6 cable. Gefen’s Galvanic Isolator is built-in, providing protection from ground loops that can potentially cause system damage or electric shock. The DVI Extender over CAT-5 Short Range Extender offers economical pricing on a shorter range extension. It sends DVI with power up to 70 meters using one CAT-5 cable.

DisplayPort Solutions

The DisplayPort Extender over CAT-7 delivers 2560×1600 resolutions up to 30 meters in distance using two CAT-7 cables. The Gefen ToolBox DisplayPort KVM Extender over CAT-7 delivers 2560×1600 resolutions with two USB 2.0 peripherals up to 30 meters in distance using three CAT-7 cables. The DisplayPort EDID Detective Plus prevents signal loss when extending high resolution DisplayPort video. Displays use EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) to communicate key information, including video resolutions and timings supported, to the source. If lost during transit, video may appear degraded or fail completely.

GefenPRO Modular Matrixes for HDMI

Two new GefenPRO Modular Matrixes for HDMI come with 8x ELR (Extra Long Range) extension modules based on HDBaseT. The 16×16 and 32×32 Modular Matrixes for HDMI route up to 32 sources to 32 displays using HDMI. Optional ELR extension modules deliver high resolution video and audio up to 100 meters using one CAT-5 cable per display.

“While other events have taken a star-gazing approach to the topic, the Smart Building Conference @ ISE promises a practical look at how intelligent buildings are already being designed, built and used,” comments Mike Blackman, Managing Director, Integrated Systems Events. “Delegates will learn how emerging technologies offer them new possibilities today, not just in the future.”

The Conference programme includes expert case studies illustrating the different possibilities available in specific technology areas, along with bigger-picture presentations from some of the industry’s pre-eminent educators and consultants.

Among the former, highlights include Lucy Martin of London-based John Cullen Lighting discussing the importance of control in good lighting design, while Gwen De Meyer, CEO of Belgian integration firm Van Havere, offers examples of multi-room media distribution being integrated with building-management technologies.

Energy management is a significant theme at the Conference, with Lutz Steiner of Germany’s Technische Universität Darmstadt outlining the transition from smart buildings to sustainable cities, and InfoComm’s sustainability officer Allen Weidman discussing the business opportunities promised by the newly created STEP rating system.

Energy saving will also play a part as Joost Brinkman of Accenture describes the award-winning Amsterdam Smart City project, introducing the additional topics of intelligent working and living which will also be touched on by Arup’s Graham Naylor-Smith in his presentation ‘From Smart Rooms to Smart Buildings’ and by CEDIA’s Geoff Meads as he discusses ‘The Smart Home Future’.

The Conference will be MC’d by Bob Snyder, Editor-in-Chief of Channel Media Europe, and will conclude with a panel discussion on ‘The Future of the User Interface in Smart Building Control’ featuring representatives from AMX, Crestron, Legrand and Control4.

“As befits the global appeal of Integrated Systems Europe, the Smart Building Conference @ ISE boasts a truly international panel of acknowledged experts and thought leaders,” concludes Blackman. “We are looking forward to an event that truly helps to set the smart-building agenda, not just for our industry but for adjacent sectors as well. Add superb networking opportunities, the additional post-Conference attractions of the Marco Tempest Keynote and ISE 10th Birthday Party and, of course, ISE 2013 itself, and this Conference really is an industry meeting point not to be missed.”

The Smart Building Conference @ ISE is excellent value and pre-registration is available online now, priced at €199 per delegate (InfoComm and/or CEDIA members €179). On-site registration will be €249 (€229). For more information visit: www.smartbuildingconference.com

The following is a summary of the keynote presentation:

Opening remarks by Kazuhiro Tsuga, President of Panasonic Corporation

Although my current responsibilities have expanded somewhat since I began at Panasonic in 1979, I am first and foremost an engineer, which forms the basis of my perspective and passion.  Engineers tend to be rational and analytical, but we are also passionately driven to solve problems and turn idealistic vision into useful realities.  In fact, most of us care quite deeply about making the world we live in better.

Many people think of Panasonic as a television manufacturing company.  In fact, for nearly one hundred years we have been making a vast range of products that are enhancing the lives of customers around the world as an engineering company.  With our long-standing commitment to sustainability, this makes us uniquely able to offer innovative solutions that are both eco and smart.  This is the Panasonic I want to share with you today, an eco-engineering company powered by the efforts of thousands of employees around the world who are driven to make the world we live in better

What drives us at Panasonic is people, in other words customers.  We have been stepping up our efforts to create real value for our customers, which are based on two fundamental things.  First, we are listening deeply to what our customers want and need – often long before they ever purchase our products.  We have created Panasonic Lifestyle Research Centers in key regions around the world to that end.  Second, we are creating lasting relationships with customers that continue long after they purchase our products.  This is being achieved through a range of exciting services.

Panasonic’s future is being built on far more than a single product category and its contribution to people’s lives is extending far beyond the living room.  We are focusing our business activities on four broad areas in which we impact people’s lives — residential, non-residential, personal and mobility.  With people, who unite them, at the center of all our activities, we want to add value to customers’ lives wherever they are.  One way to achieve this is by maximizing the tremendous growth potential in the B2B category, through a new business model that goes far beyond selling hardware, and offers Total Solutions that include software and services as well.

In collaboration with our global business customers, we’re enhancing consumer’s lives in areas where people might not think of Panasonic – including automotive, retail, avionics and energy.  Today we will be sharing numerous examples of the B2B2C approach in action by inviting our top business customers.  We will also show you the important role Panasonic Cloud Services will play in our strategy.

What does “a better world” really mean?  Our job is to give our customers the products, solutions and services that will allow them to create the better world they want — whoever and wherever they are.  In the next hour, we’ll tell what real Panasonic customers want and need to make their worlds better and how we are responding to them.

1. Your TV

Presented by Messrs. Tsuga and Joe Taylor , CEO of Panasonic Corporation of North America, with Mr. Tim Vanderhook , Co-founder and CEO of Specific Media as a special guest speaker and a video appearance from Mr. Keith Turner , President of Sales and Marketing at Univision

The television industry here in the US is experiencing tremendous change.  The next five years will transform it more than the last twenty-five.  What today’s consumers are desiring in a TV is more than just beautiful picture quality.  They are expecting easy access to content, flexible choices, a simple and intuitive user experience.  In other words, they don’t want just another screen.

Panasonic’s “Your TV” gives you the ability to personalize and customize, providing you with a great new service while giving you choice and freedom.  It’s all you could ever want from your TV and more — broadcast channels, video on demand, smart search and a rich social experience at your fingertips.  All you have to do is say ” My Home Screen ,” and the built-in camera and facial recognition technology bring up your personal page.  This new Home Screen is designed to personalize Your TV experience, and give you direct access to both the latest information and all your favorite content.

In addition, in order to provide customers with a new viewing experience and to make the creation of new business models possible, the company is working towards the realization of internet based TV program broadcasting, viewing programs over smart devices, and advertising targeted to the user.

Our concept for Your TV embodies everything that we want you to know about where Panasonic is going: How we are expanding our reach from hardware manufacturer to a total solutions and service provider, how we are working closely with other global leaders, and how these things are allowing us to develop deeper and ongoing relationships with customers that add maximum value to their lives.  With these initiatives we are beginning a truly new era at Panasonic.  But rest assured, engineering new audio-visual technology that meets customer needs is as important as ever. We will continue to lead the industry in the development of plasma and LCD TVs, and a whole range of innovative new products.

Panasonic has developed a 56-inch 4k2k OLED display, the world’s largest OLED panel produced by the RGB all-printing method.  The stunning picture quality with 4k resolution and rich colors that the synergy of 4k and OLED technologies makes possible set this television apart.  It weighs just 27 pounds, half the weight of a normal 4k display.  The engine driving Panasonic OLED is our printing technology, which gives us the ability to make panels that are larger and more affordable than our competitors.

2. Your Home

Presented by Mr. Taylor

Sustainability has been an essential part of Panasonic’s DNA for a very long time.  One measure of how we’re doing is that in 2012 Panasonic was ranked sixth in Interbrand’s Best Global Green Brands, which is four spots up from last year and the highest ranking of any consumer electronics company.

Panasonic is offering energy solutions that are built on integrated solutions to create, store, save and manage energy.  When it comes to creating energy, we bring to market innovative products like hydrogen fuel cells, in addition to solar panels.  We’re also focusing on storing energy and it’s already gained a lot of traction overseas and we expect it to do the same here in the U.S.  Engineering products that save energy has been a top priority at Panasonic for a very long time, including home appliances, audiovisual products, and LED lighting.  To manage energy, Panasonic uses the Smart Energy Gateway, or SEG, which can be controlled through a variety of smart devices, both in your home and remotely.  It checks power usage conditions throughout the house, and shows you exactly where and how you can save energy.  We’re using this same template to serve customers well beyond the home, including stores and whole communities around the world.

In Panasonic’s future, the Cloud is going to play a key role, like energy.  The Cloud is essential not only to connect your devices, but also to anticipate and answer your needs — both in the home and beyond.  We’re partnering with some of the world’s leading IT companies to make this vision a reality.  In fact, Panasonic and IBM have agreed to work together to assess the business and technical value of future home appliances connected to the cloud.

3. Your Car

Presented by Mr. Tsuga, with Mr. Phil Abram , Chief Infotainment Officer of General Motors, as a special guest speaker on stage and video appearance by Mr. Elon Musk , Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Tesla Motors

Our strategy for expanding our business with leading automakers is focused on two key areas.  First, we are transforming our expertise in home energy solutions into total solutions for electric vehicles.  And second, we are taking the engineering behind our connected home AV solutions and delivering fully connected automotive solutions.

Batteries are only one aspect of Panasonic EV solutions.  We have developed a Power Management System that greatly improves the efficiency of EV batteries a Heat Management System designed to reduce the tremendous power drain of air conditioning on hybrid and electric vehicles.  These are just two of the new systems we are developing to make these vehicles attractive to more consumers.

Panasonic is able to provide total EV solutions, including batteries, energy and heat, and help extend the mileage of EVs.

Just as an example of our connected car solutions, GM and Panasonic have partnered to create the new MyLink infotainment system.  MyLink offers extensive AV, communication and navigation functions that fulfill your needs.  You can even add apps through the Internet after the purchase.

4. Your Business

Presented by Mr. Taylor with guest video appearance by photojournalist Mr. Daniel Berehulak

The new Panasonic 4k Tablet features a 20-inch display which is less than one-half inch thick.  This new Windows 8-based business tool is incredibly thin, light and portable.

One strong focus of our B2B2C strategy is providing end-to-end solutions for retail that leverage the expertise of all our companies, from Audio Visual to Energy Solutions.  For example, in Asia, Panasonic is partnering with a Japanese-based global convenience store chain, Lawson.  In 2010, Panasonic helped Lawson to create a prototype “green store” that integrates a wide variety of Panasonic products. The results have been significant, with a 20% reduction in power consumption as compared to 2006.  Last year, Panasonic began installing solar panels in 2,000 Lawson’s stores.

For McDonald’s, Panasonic has installed a wide range of products, including POS systems to monitoring and security cameras.

5. Your Journey

Presented by Mr. Tsuga with special guest appearance by Mr. Rob Fyfe , former Chief Executive Officer of Air New Zealand, Chairman of the Star Alliance and Member of the Board of Governors at IATA, and video appearance by Jim Compton , Vice Chairman of United Airlines

With 275 airline customers in our portfolio and more than 5,000 airplanes around the world fitted with our in-flight entertainment and communications systems, last year more than 500 million passengers experienced journeys enhanced by Panasonic avionics solutions.

In 2013 Panasonic’s next generation systems are taking avionics technology to the next level, including over 900 planes equipped with broadband Internet.

Since 1998 Panasonic has partnered with one of the world’s largest airlines, United Airlines. Panasonic inflight entertainment and communication systems are installed across both wide and narrow-body fleets, including the state-of-the-art 787 Dreamliner.  In 2013, United will become Panasonic’s largest Global Communications Suite customer, installing this state-of-the-art solution on over 300 aircraft flying routes all over the world.

Panasonic is launching the eXLite system with Air New Zealand in 2014.  This system is the lowest power and lightest weight inflight entertainment solution we have ever offered.

Our portfolio of entertainment and information service solutions goes well beyond inflight entertainment services to include those for homes, lounges and hotels.  In other words, our solutions fully support your entire journey.

6. Your Community

Presented by Mr. Taylor with special guest appearance by Mr. Cory Booker , Mayor of Newark, New Jersey, and video appearance by Ms. Abby Wambach and Ms. Alex Morgan , members of the U.S. women’s soccer team for the London 2012 Olympic Games

Panasonic is providing integrated solutions to enhance communities of all kinds, from informational kiosks and digital signage at leading universities to energy solutions that are making auto racing more sustainable.  As the Official Worldwide AV Sponsor for the Olympic Games, Panasonic’s end-to-end broadcast solutions have made it possible for audiences around the world to share the passion of the Olympic Games for 25 years.  Panasonic has also sponsored US Major League Soccer—a relationship that includes a whole range of integrated solutions in MLS stadiums around the country.  In Japan, Panasonic supplied the LED lighting solutions for the TOKYO SKYTREE, and is building the Fujisawa Sustainable Smart Town in Fujisawa City, which opens next year and will be home to thousands of people.

This summer, we’re moving Panasonic’s U.S. headquarters from Secaucus to a brand new facility in Newark, New Jersey.  The new facility will help us to reduce our own carbon footprint by 50% in total, with our environmental technologies and the use of mass transit.  The Panasonic space in the building will be LEED Platinum Certified, the highest standard for environmental design.  Panasonic plans to build an Ideas Center in Newark where the community can learn and be inspired by the newest Panasonic technology.

Closing Remarks by Mr. Tsuga

As we’ve shown over the last hour, there are as many visions of a “better world” as there are people on our planet.  I sincerely hope that you get a sense of our commitment to make the world better with you.

Some of what we’ve shared today may seem unexpected and perhaps different than the Panasonic you have known in the past.  But, if we are to achieve our goals, the imperative to transform and innovate has never been greater.  However, the core values that drive us at Panasonic are not new at all.  They have actually been part of our company’s DNA since it was founded by Konosuke Matsushita nearly 100 years ago — to place people before products, contribute to our society, enhance and add value to the lives of customers, and to offer eco and smart solutions that make what matters most better.  This is who we are and who we have always been.  When all is said and done, it is just another way we are engineering a better world for you.

But for the first time look for the industry’s most sophisticated cooling and heating systems, solar modules, and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units during the International CES Show in Las Vegas, Booth #8231, January 8-11, 2013.

MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC AT HOME highlights a new slim-bezeled, slim-depth, 70-inch LCD monitor, the MDT-701S. Its built-in, bottom-firing, high-fidelity speakers deliver exceptionally pure sound. And when wall mounted with slim-profile brackets, it’s fully ADA compliant. The HC8000D, a 2D/3D high-definition home theater projector boasts possibly the best 2D/3D conversion algorithm available to transform even classic flicks into sensory adventures. Finally, for home comfort without sweating the bill, Mitsubishi Electric offers residents the most advanced, quiet, energy-efficient cooling and heating system, the MSZ-FE09NA, anENERGY STAR® product. Meanwhile, Mitsubishi Electric’s PV-MLE260HD monocrystalline solar modules offer superior reliability and outstanding real world energy production capability for the home.

MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC AT WORK features the company’s newest LED commercial monitor, the MDT-552S. Specifically built for digital signage or conference room audio/visual displays, it’s perfect for high-end video conferencing or long-distance learning applications that use multi-zonal, multi-media content. The VS-L55HM70U data wall displays are a must-see for network operations center managers. These displays can be organized in various matrix configurations to fit most applications, including visual surveillance, digital signage and public messaging. Again, Mitsubishi Electric’s 260W photovoltaic solar modules offer half-cut cells with 4-bus bar cell design and rugged construction to deliver safe, reliable power. With the DiamondPlus™ 1100 UPS unit, managers can ensure their networks remain online while the climate-controlled MSZ-FE09NA cooling and heating unit will keep every system within operating limits.

Also look for the 4K resolution monitor (quadruple full high definition) at our booth. That’s more than eight megapixels on screen at any given time. So it’s ideal where real estate is limited or in intimate settings involving large amounts of dense information. Satellite imagery, mapping information and financial dashboards would be likely applications, as would broadcast video. A full line of dye-sublimation printers will also be on display. Aimed at professional event and wedding photographers, they’re built for high-speed, high-volume printing. And a line of money-making photo kiosk systems will particularly interest retailers.

MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC AT PLAY creates a dynamic video game experience withthe beautiful MDT-652S 65-inch LCD monitor. With two active inputs, players can challenge two competitors at once. To keep the games going, Mitsubishi Electric’s PV-MLE260HD solar modules offer consistent, dependable power. Paired with Mitsubishi Electric’s 7011A UPS system, disruptions and data loss become a thing of the past for homes (or small businesses) — come rain or come shine.

Finally, visitors can experience Mitsubishi’s full line of LCD monitors, ranging from 32 to 70 inches. They offer ultra-thin or standard bezels in portrait or landscape configurations. Dual light sensors adjust brightness based on ambient light. Cool? You bet — and economical. Thanks to the latest connectivity options, they also offer flexibility and ease of installation.

Diversified technology company 3M is presenting its latest multi-touch technology based on 3M Projected Capacitive Technology  to the gaming industry at its annual showcase, ICE Totally Gaming, ExCeL London, 5-7 February 2013. In collaboration with kiosk, amusement and gaming partner Eurocoin (Stand S10-340), 3M’s Touch Systems business will demonstrate a prototype 46-inch Multi-Touch Chassis Display in a gaming table formation, a button deck incorporating a new 16.4-inch extreme wide diagonal multi-touch system, and an 18.5-inch multi-touch system in a bar top application.

The prototype 46-inch gaming table demonstrates the dramatic impact of 3M Projected Capacitive Technology on the gaming industry allied with the demand towards even bigger large format displays (LFDs). Combining 60-finger multi-touch capabilities with an ultra-wide viewing angle, high-definition 1080p LCD display, the metal-housed Multi-Touch Display C4667PW chassis from 3M opens the door to exciting new collaborative and competitive games for players, where multiple users can interact simultaneously on the touch screen. 3M Projected Capacitive Technology is ultra-fast with the capability to track more than 20 simultaneous touch events at a 12 millisecond touch response speed, while rejecting palms on the screen surface. This transcends far beyond the simple two-touch ‘gestures’ that users are all familiar with on smartphones and tablets.

This Multi-Touch Display C4667PW chassis helps create a more natural interactive experience for users seeking an enlarged touch area or applications for multiple users. The 3M Projected Capacitive Technology sensor’s anti-stiction surface further enhances users’ experience by enabling their fingers to glide effortlessly across the glass surface while maintaining positive contact with the screen.

Anchoring the company’s end-to-end solutions is the new Makito™ X2 HD H.264 high performance encoder. The company will also present a unique and low-cost approach to IPTV, coupling its Torpedo™ DVB to IP gateways with Amino set-top boxes (STBs). Noteworthy for CoolSign™, a digital signage system that integrates with live IP video, is its new interface, enabling administrators to manage content segments and regions along with a new low-cost signage player. Additionally, Haivision will highlight Internet media delivery technology and a new free performance media player, along with new streaming and recording appliances.

More information about Haivision and its products at ISE 2013 can be found: http://www.haivision.com/about-us/tradeshow/ISE2013/ISE2013

Easy IPTV

Torpedo™ and Amino — Haivision has released a free video player application, InStream™ Amino, for the Amino STB. Without the need for re-encoding video or provisioning any management server, InStream™ Amino presents viewers with channels and their related guide information directly from the DVB sources — as delivered through Torpedo™ DVB to IP gateways. Torpedo supports DVB-S/S2, DVB-T/T2, and streams up to 15 live channels, delivering digital broadcasts directly to IP networks. InStream Amino can also aggregate DVB sources from multiple Torpedo gateways.

Simple, Integrated, Low-Cost Digital Signage

CoolSign™ — Haivision’s scalable digital signage platform brings together rich media content and live HD video. Coupled with Haivision’s Furnace™ IP video distribution system, the solution provides a complete end-to-end infrastructure for delivering secure video to every desktop, mobile device, and digital display. The Furnace integrates live video, recorded playback channels, digital signage channels, and VOD. CoolSign™ now extends content control within an enterprise to local screen managers with its new interface, enabling casual administrators to manage content segments and regions easily.

Extreme Encoding

Makito™ X2 — Haivision’s next generation high-definition H.264 encoding platform with dual-channel HD encoding will make its debut at ISE 2013. The Makito™ X2 H.264 encoder delivers twice the quality or half the bandwidth of competing encoders. The Makito X2 carries on the tradition of the Makito with only 55 milliseconds of encoding latency, an extensive feature set, and the ability to deliver multiple bit rates (MBR) from each source simultaneously. The Makito X2 is available as a standalone appliance or in a rackmount enclosure, supporting up to 12 channels of HD encoding within 1RU.

Planning Your Multicast Enterprise Video Network
Today’s trend of delivering video over IP (VoIP) is rapidly changing the way enterprises manage and distribute their content. By using multicast video workflows, organizations can now fully leverage the opportunities of IP video and mitigate the challenges of this powerful new type of deployment. This presentation will focus on how to migrate from a baseband system successfully by providing an overview on how to select the right encoder, plan for an efficient network, choose an appropriate player/decoder, and take advantage of advanced applications — such as recording, VOD, and access control.

Atlona Products on Display at ISE 2013 http://www.signageinfo.com/events/22511/atlona-products-on-display-at-ise-2013/ http://www.signageinfo.com/events/22511/atlona-products-on-display-at-ise-2013/#comments Thu, 06 Dec 2012 19:52:56 +0000 SITeam http://www.signageinfo.com/?p=22511 Atlona® Multichannel Audio Converter (AT-HD-M2C)
The Atlona® AT-HD-M2C converts multichannel audio — up to Dolby® TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio™ signals — into a two-channel stereo format that is compatible for displays and legacy devices such as AVR receivers or distribution amplifiers. The AT-HD-M2C’s multichannel EDID takes the guesswork out of managing audio for the sources. Discreet status lights for PCM, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS Digital Surround™, and DTS-HD Master Audio allow users to determine the incoming audio signal at a glance. A variety of output ports, including S/PDIF, HDMI®, and analog, allow audio to pass to amplifiers and legacy audio receivers that don’t support HDMI, while still passing both audio and video to HDMI displays.

The AT-HD-M2C will be available Q1, 2013. Please contact Atlona for more product information.

Atlona® 4×4 and 8×8 HDMI® Matrix Switchers (AT-H2H-44M and AT-H2H-88M)
The Atlona® AT-H2H-44M 4×4 and AT-H2H-88M 8×8 HDMI® matrix switchers route HDMI from signals from four or eight sources to the same number of displays. Multiple displays can be driven simultaneously at resolutions of up to 1080p with support for 3D formats.

Built-in digital S/PDIF audio loop-outs allow audio distribution to zone amplifiers or A/V receivers. S/PDIF outputs support digital audio signals up to Dolby® Digital and DTS 5.1. The matrix switchers support all lossy and lossless formats up to Dolby TrueHD, including DTS-HD Master Audio™ pass-through for HDMI outputs as well as Audio Return Channel (ARC).

The units’ advanced EDID management ensures compatibility across multiple displays, while an EDID learning function can be customized for any connected component. The switchers feature multiple control interfaces, such as RS-232, IR, and the front panel, with future updates for TCP/IP through their Ethernet ports. In addition, the AT-H2H-44M and AT-H2H-88M feature a USB firmware port that allows for quick and easy upgrades in the field.

Atlona® High-Speed HDMI® 6×6 Matrix Switcher (AT-PRO3HD66M)
The Atlona® AT-PRO3HD66M 6×6 HDMI® matrix switcher, using HDBaseT™ technology, extends HDMI from sources up to 70 meters feet over category cables. The matrix switcher allows for effortless control of up to twelve devices through IR remote control, RS-232, TCP/IP, third-party IR control boxes, and the front panel. The unit also has Power over Ethernet (PoE) capabilities, which allows for power to be carried by the category cable to the receivers. With this feature, no power supply is needed for the receivers.

The AT-PRO3HD66M has built-in digital audio S/PDIF loop-outs that allow audio distribution to an AVR or amplifier. S/PDIF output supports PCM two-channel, Dolby® 2.0, Dolby Digital 5.1, and DTS 5.1 digital audio formats. To ensure that all audio passes through, the 6×6 matrix switcher supports all lossy and lossless formats up to Dolby True HD — including DTS-HD Master Audio™ pass-through for HDMI outputs — as well as 3D signals. In addition, there are two HDMI outputs for AVR digital audio decoding for devices such as Blu-ray™ players outputting Dolby TrueHD or Dolby DTS-HD Master Audio.

Programmable, learned EDID memory presets are loadable to any source connected to the matrix switcher, ensuring that any display can receive audio and video.

The AT-PRO3HD66M will be available Q1, 2013. Please contact Atlona for more product information.

Atlona® HDBaseT™ Distribution Amplifiers (AT-HDCAT-4, AT-HDCAT-8, and AT-HDCAT-8ED)
Atlona® will be displaying its new HDBaseT™ distribution amplifiers over category cables for users that need to display a single source to multiple displays over a long distance. The AT-HDCAT-4 and -8 carry signals up to 70 meters, and the AT-HDCAT-8ED extends that distance up to 100 meters.

All units feature two auto-switched HDMI® inputs with an HDMI loop-out for cascading, analog audio outputs with captive screw, EDID management, S/PDIF, and Power over Ethernet which allows for power to be carried by the category cable to the receivers. With this feature, no power supply is needed for the receivers. Dual purpose wall and rack-mount brackets, as well as dual (redundant) power supply capabilities are also available.

HDMI® Extenders Over Cat 5e/6/7
Atlona® HDMI® extender series over HDBaseT™ comes in three different application solutions designed to send A/V, control, and Power over Ethernet (PoE) over a single category cable. All units feature USB update ports, support for pass-through resolutions up to 4Kx2K, CEC pass-through, and PoE, which allows for power to be carried by the category cable to the receivers.

Atlona will highlight the AT-HDTX transmitter and AT-HDRX receiver, which offer a captive screw termination for power on the transmitter for lower cost installations up to 70 meters.

The AT-HDTX-IR transmitter and AT-HDRX-IR receiver are perfect for applications that call for IR control, adding bidirectional IR and a captive screw termination for IR up to 70 meters.

For applications where RS-232 and Ethernet pass-through are needed, Atlona offers the AT-HDTX-RSNET transmitter and AT-HDRX-RSNET receiver. The units offer these features in addition to bidirectional IR, captive screw termination, and PoE. The AT-HDRX-RSNET receiver provides a range of up to 100 meters.

To meet the needs of U.K. applications, Atlona will introduce HDBaseT wall-plate receivers as an option to the company’s traditional box designs. The HDMI AT-HDWP extenders over HDBaseT offer the same features as the box solutions above, and are available in wall-plate form factor. The new Atlona wall-plate extenders are elegant, custom-fit solutions for receiving digital signals in residential or commercial applications. The units are available in three options: AT-HDWP-UK (HDMI), AT-HDWP-IR-UK (with IR), and AT-HDWP-RSNET-UK (with RS232 and Ethernet Pass-through).
